There are a lot of terms from the 50’s that do not carry meaning today. “Housewife” is one of them.
Women and men who give up their jobs to raise a family are giving up a lot – Status, identity, salary & benefits.
I have returned to the workforce and I admire my coworkers who step back to raise their children.
All day K is a perk for working parents. Cuts down on childcare costs. It has no lasting benefit for the child.
And the REAL reason people with 4 kids move into 600k houses it to mooch off the school system, paying 1/2 a child’s education worth of taxes to send 4 through a school.
I call them the greatest moochers of Ridgewood. And I say this as a supporter of full day pre-K who has 0 kids in the school system and yet pay 2 kids worth of property taxes. To educate the kids of the moochers above.

1:28: 10:53 could also very legitimately argue that extending full day kindergarten – something that is almost uniformly available in Ridgewood-like communities across the state – is important the keep the schooling system in line with those.
I know some of these people making these disgusting comments about sending their kids away for free and saddling ‘taxpayers’ with the cost. The irony is that most of them are not really ‘taxpayers’ as they take out 5x+ of what they contribute to the system.
