For the most part, it’s all about trust when it comes to the accuracy of utility bills. We trust that they are right and we pay them. I haven’t had any confidence in my Ridgewood Water bills for quite a long time now. I don’t believe that there’s any deliberate hanky-panky going on but what I do believe is that the utility is run by a bunch of political contectees who simply have no other interest in running the utility other than to maintain their positions.
Boyd Loving, who started this entire inquisition by questioning his latest bill from Ridgewood Water, posted this on Facebook a few hours ago: “I just reviewed every one of our water bills dating back to July of 2006. This past year was the only year in which our consumption (according to Ridgewood Water) remained flat throughout the entire 12 month period. Every other year showed variations based upon seasonal weather patterns. That is, increased usage in Spring and Summer months. There’s got to be a glitch in their billing system somewhere.”
My total usage for this past year was 71 (whatever unit of measure they use). That is my lowest yearly total since 2002. On the plus side, my bill is $200 less than last year. But something is definitely fishy.
Flat usage sounds like estimated billing. Could check your actual meter read against theirs.
Its all about leadership. Some of our elected representatives have become buddies with senior village staff and they spend weekends and after hours together.
With these friendships and extra curricular interests in place, the elected representatives have failed us.
My bill fluctuated dramatically. There is no rhyme or reason to the bills I receive. So mid managed. Now wait for the high density housing!!! How will this company keep up???
