Our Family received two waves of sidewalk inspection and expensive replacement
orders with extensive photo documentation .how much does this nanny Operation cost the taxpayers.its a contractors dreams to fight the towns mis placed curb tree roots which when cut either kill the tree or the tree regenerates the root and the sidewalk re lifts within 4 years .town should focus on tree maintenance of their own trees in support of the neighborhoods .this is another negative for homeowners in RIDGEWOOD.

  1. I have no issue with fixing my sidewalks when they are raised up. It is called responsible homeownership. We do it before any summons is issued to us I do wish the roads would get paved, however.

  2. So what is the article writer suggesting? That we all pay for his/her sidewalk repair through taxes? Responsible home ownership involves keeping the sidewalk in front of your house safe. It should never get to a point where you are receiving notices from the Village. If you can’t afford to maintain this standard, then you really ought to live in a town that is more compatible to your financial means.

  3. Nice try status quo town overreach Fan club..payed over 2000 dollars in these 2 orders by the town all caused by improper selection of massive swamp maples but town inserted into a 4 foot wide curb planting area.10.51.maybe you should
move soon so we might get a reality check on town overreach and abandoning of their responsibility for their own mis plantings..these damaging town trees are extensively damaging owners properties as well.

  4. 5:58 agree town should bear some responsibility when town trees result in sidewalk damage. Now they want us to get approval before we remove a tree on our own property and further agree to replace the tree or pay a fine. Ridiculous. Overreach is right….

  5. My sidewalk was destroyed by a town tree

  6. Fixnorth pleasant!!! The 2 McMansions on the same side of the road which have been slowly destroying the road with constant work- one for YEARS- and the other more recently. Your McMansions and monstrosities should not be our taxpayer issue.

  7. If nobody commenting on this blog ever announced again that other people commenting on the blog should move away, this would make me happy.

  8. 12:41: How about you move to a town with a more compliant blogging community?

  9. I do not understand why a homeowner should be responsible for the sidewalk. The sidewalk is not private property so why would a homeowner pay to fix it? This round of inspections resulting in fines etc. seems like a new trick for revenue for the village. Village is not capable of maintaining its own street infrastructure. It is shocking how they never speak about this. They want more from the taxpayers but do nothing to keep up with their duties.

  10. 12:05 NORTH PLEASANT WAS WELL ON ITS Way even before the two mansions were expanded.Dont give the town a out.North pleasant all the way to Linwood side is shot.Ajoing Fairway avenue is a shambles.they keep slinging hot patch which last a week.

VOR WE ARE NOT GOING AWAY ,FIX THE DAM ROADS.BOND IT FOR SOMETHING USEFUL Not some idiocy,Pet project…

FRANKLIN MAIN ROAD IN TOWN IS COMPLETELY GONE..

    HELLO..OOO..OO

  11. 10:19 Bruce is 100 percent correct, roads are a basic service while we bulldoze 105 M a YEAR A YEAR INTO the Schools.
