The government weather forecasters blew it. They predicted 1-3 inches of snow and we got close to 8. I did not see any ‘brine’ on the roads anywhere in NJ prior to the storm so perhaps our state county and local highway departments rely on a forecast, which was very inaccurate. I’m tired of shoveling 8 inches of ‘global warming’ from my driveway and sidewalk….
perfect combination of snow powder turning into shear ice layer then more snow equals no traction even where marginal grades like in front of starbucks on ridgewood avenue at 630 pm minimal upward Grades.chains were required or studs…
The village snow removal crews certainly worked hard through the nite to get a handle on safer roads .It was treacherous up under the stations underpass with
close to zero traction there and in many uphill grades …

The town blew it.
If they cannot be ready for a few inches of snow and be able to mobilize without extendded planning and preparation they are inept.

If anyone else in virtually any other job was unable to react and complete a task within their purview, they would not be long for their job.
But I guess with municipal workers, finding fault and blaming others for their inability to perform their responsibilities is perfectly acceptable.
Especially in Ridgewood where standards and expectations have dropped to such a low level, that residents have given up any expectations of competent and efficient service, let alone exceptional service.

I speak to a guy from Saint Louis every day…they got 6-inches from this same storm on Wednesday.
This is what happens when you put people in charge with lack of experience. They just don’t have the credentials. For now I want our Mayor to get involved.
The talk on the street at Starbucks Is at the Deportment of public works is very short on staff. I don’t know if that’s an excuse but if that’s true why is the department short on staff. We cannot understand why our taxes keep on going up economy is booming an appointment it’s at its lowest level in a long time. What the hell is going on.
Yes this is so true . I retired ten years ago in 2000 . We had 18 on the crew. In the 90’s we had 25 crew members. Now they have a little more than a handful.on the d b w . Why is this. What happened. Ware did all of that money go to. Other departments are at full crews. The mayor and council need to reform to the past.
Timeing was a big problem. Every one on the road s at the same time.
