Reader says the US is just monitoring the level of disquiet in the country due to the uncertainties of the economy

There are some people that say, “if you have done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear” but what the NSA is doing is totally wrong and this whole security thing, well that is just a smoke screen.

We have heard the credible evidence, not from intel sources in the US but from Europe that the major threat, and the most difficult to deal with is fact that there now lone wolves out there working on terrorist activities – not the large scale plans of 9/11 or 7/7 – these are the most difficult to deal with because they are members of the community, not some blow ins, trying to integrate into new surroundings.People know them and therefore their suspicions are not raised.

So what the NSA and others are doing in reference to monitoring the online activities of the citizens of the US is just monitoring the level of disquiet in the country due to the uncertainties of the economy, employment market, and basic livelihoods of the citizens.
