Reader says There are many REAL charities that need financial support

$1,974,909 – Audrey Meyers
President and CEO, Valley Hospital, Ridgewood
Another leader of a single hospital in hospital-rich Bergen County, Meyers is again the only woman to make this list

Unfortunately many charities give grossly high salaries to their employees and the generous donations pay for that instead of research.

Don.t forget the “lustgarden foundation, curepc ” that spends 100% of the donations seeking a cure for pancreatic cancer, anyone could get it and it kills 95% of the victims so it’s a worthy cause. Anybody could get it and it kills you quick

There are many REAL charities that need financial support. Go to CharityWatch.org to see listings by category.

  1. And the insane part is that Valley donates to Ridgewood. There is a scoreboard with Valley’s name on it.

We have false causes in Ridgewood. Donate to see your name on a plaque or on a brick? Says a lot about us. Give to end hunger and eradicate disease. We have an embarrassment of riches.

  2. Public television…public radio…reproductive rights…not some absurd overinflated pseudononprofit that focuses on social events and turns away the sick who can’t pay. Valley’s executive salaries are OUTRAGEOUS and should discourage ANYONE from donating–not to mention that they are suing the Village. Want your own money given to a lawyer who is suing the town? Really?

  3. Doesn’t little Miss Gwenn look lovely with her Valley buddies.

  4. Name on a plaque or brick is a feel good exercise…the way to show Valley how most citizens in Ridgewood feel about doubling their size using litigation as their tool (with a big tool in Mr Drill Esq. leading the charge) is to make the likely well intentioned uber society Valley patrons pariahs in town…. notice you dont see Ms Meyer’s face in the local papers that often these days….

  5. When donating to major charities you can look up them up and see how much of your donation goes to administration and overhead and how much goes to the charity mission.

Can we find out where money donated to Valley goes? Valley does almost no charity work so what are they fundraising for? Help pay for lawsuits against the Village?

  6. 6:12 lets not forget the valley ball and all those lunch’s that you see pictured in the Ridgewood News.

  7. Stepford !

  8. Seriously, why does Valley fundraise and why do people give money to a business?

  9. Your donations to Valley are going to pay Audrey and her lawyers to sue Ridgewood. Sickening, disgusting and dusturbing.
