Many businesses invest in their own future…for our town that seems to be a novel idea but that’s usually how businesses expand…

Time for the Chamber of Commerce to come up with their own solutions and invest in their own future – in case you didn’t get the message, we aren’t going to pay for it…

From the Chamber’s website for new members:
Member Benefits – Membership decal with the Chamber decal – We promote “Spend Locally” and encourage shoppers and diners to look for the logo. The logo identifies your business as a member of the Chamber, and supporter of the Ridgewood community.

“supporter of the Ridgewood community” – that’s rich…

  1. Solution #1 should be to find parking for store owners & employees so you can leave parking in CBD for customers. You know the customers that spend money in your stores…..if they can park.

  2. The dirty little secret about shopping. Although people shop online and that cuts into Ridgewood CBD shopping ,our proximity to NYC let’s shoppers hop a train to the city and even name brand shops here don’t have the same unique items as the flagship shops in the city,

    Just sayin.

  3. 8:13 – again with the parking! Ridgewood merchants don’t leave town or go out of business because of parking. Do you think the knitting shop left town because throngs of frustrated knitters couldn’t find a parking spot? Come on.

  4. how about Saraceno, Vagianos the guild, the chamber all pitch in and build there own garage??

  5. Chamber should look into leasing the parking lot in back of the theater for there employees.

  6. Well that’s not going to happen as the knee jerk reaction of the local social Gadflys has prevailed. Everyone else was to busy summering out in the Hampton’s on their yach-it’s.

  7. remove the concrete planters to show that you respect law. That’s the first step.

  8. That chunk of ice is incredible! The restaurant owner must have put it there like It’s Greek to Me’s wall, because it’s hideous and blocks the sidewalk. Poor tree!

  9. Solution number one would have to be tied to almost a free pass on parking costs for employees and biz owners ..why else would we expect them to not continue to take early close buy place of employment parking spots..it’s not like there are thousands of employee spots needed..its solve able..but let’s skip the pie in the sky half off approach..give them a dam pass..issue it quarterly .small admin fee due from the employer.l

  10. They will never find their own solution the want the town AKA tax payers to pay for everything .

  11. The total assessed value of all properties in the village is $5,733,152,900. The total value of all commercial properties (excluding industrial and apartments) is $504,095,500 (8.7%). The total value of all residential properties in the village is $5,122,760,900 (89.3%). So a group of property owners who make up less than 10% of the tax base want the burden of a $12 million garage to be borne by the vast majority of property owners for their personal gain. How is this fair?

  12. S. Frapz – good point – and Vagianos keep sending letters about ratables.. how much are those ratables increase? Even if their tax increase 20%, that’s 2% increase for us.

  13. When will Paul be fined for those structures he constructed on the sidewalk?
