We need more police for the fireworks. Cars stopped in both directions on Ridgewood Ave to watch the show. Drivers were trying to pass.
After the show families were leaving and flooding across the street. One car kept moving forward, the driver clearly did not want to be held up by pedestrian traffic. A pedestrian got into an argument with him
Everything has a cost. Ridgewood Pd is a full deployment and officers from other towns are brought in. Outside police are paid for by the 4th of July committee. So I guess if readers what more police for that night then the 4th of July committee has to raise the ticket prices to hire more outside police service.
I wonder if it’s possible to make all the streets one way to improve the exit flow of traffic
Families should use the crosswalk.
Families were all over the place. The light was blinking so there was no clear time to cross.
The driver probably was not from Ridgewood, many of the spectators were probably from other towns. We have been trained to yield to pedestrians, the driver on Ridgewood Ave did not get the memo.
One way streets or closing sections of the road would help. If Ridgewood were closed from Brookside to Irving it may have helped.
Yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk. The whole world does not revolve around you.
It’s one night. Relax. It brings many dollars to our town. Let’s save the police for making sure Ridgewood kids arrive safely to school in the morning. Oh, wait. The police are nowhere to be found on school mornings.
unfortunately there are too many selfish self-centered obnoxious self-righteous people in Ridgewood lately… and that includes pedestrians and drivers alike.
