$40 + Million for BOE Ridgewood Schools All renovations
$15 Million for VOR Parking Garage bonded by public funds
$5 Million for Ridgewood Library renovations (mix of private / public funds)
$ ? Millions ? Unknown for Performing arts center Building next to library/VOR
Running Total Estimates so far at $60 + MILLION
Estimates are just that, estimates, and tend to go over.
Lots of questions need to be asked about the funding of these Wish Lists projects. Detailed answers to specific financials, the percentages of NJ State funding/ VOR / public funding needed to be appropriated for these projects, as well as the County and NJ Transit in the case for the parking garage with the expected/ projected parking revenues. What would be the time line for all these debts to be paid off, and the breakdown on the taxpayers.
A small bag of shells for the 3 Amigos.
Oh Lordy, I can hear the posts already. Albert Anonymous Pucciarelli will be saying “that is just a number. I don’t want to go on record for any amount. Maybe it is $15 million maybe it is five dollars. Let’s just call the number ‘X’ for now.” And Ranting Rurik will declare that certain nasty residents are opposed to all progress and ought to scurry back into their rat holes. And the Mayor will state that we need to have a referendum that will ultimately be ignored after he drills down. And Roberta will want to “crunch the numbers.” And Gwenn will call for civility and cant we all just be friends. It is all so predictable.
The one thing we know for sure, is that all or most of these will go through and our taxes will go through the roof and our town will be changed for the worse.
So true 9:18
Isn’t the BOE just a list of things that should be done? Not necessarily things that need to be done NOW.
I would think this is a good process that most well run companies take. Review the facilities each year, budget for the low hanging fruit as well as the need to fix now and plan for the future.
If I read it right, the BOE piece was just a review. Better to plan then to find out that something is broken in 2 years and not be aware that it was about to break.
Planning and budgeting 101.
Nice work, 9:18! Too true, but entertaining nonetheless.
11:28 am says ‘Better to plan then to find out that something is broken in 2 years and not be aware that it was about to break ‘
Yes, but now its a HIGH PRIORITY, and why wasn’t it brought to attention previously? –
– according to the article, if you re-read it, it states MOST UPGRADES are listed as “HIGH PRIORITY”….
“it was revealed that some schools are in need of new boilers, furnaces and heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, among other things. According to a chart provided by EI, most of these upgrades are listed as “high priority.”
did we just 60 mill a few years ago, wow, well may be we will get 4,mill fro the new tax rate from the valley buildings, right.
No to the library and no to a so called performing arts center. If the village idiots cannot build a garage for 10 million then do not start.
It is wrong to replace before broken. As I have stated here before, new machines are made to break down soon. If something old is still working, keep it going.
As a home owner that is what I have always done. It works and saves a lot of money.
they do need to pave other parking lot,s like cottage, and oak,
tell trump when he comes into town. real soon.
“Critics build nothing” – Robert Moses
How can a town of 25,000 (including children) continue to be taxed unmercifully for projects costing a total of tens of millions of dollars for structures we do not need and cannot afford? YES, fix broken roofs and heating units in schools–that’s what taxes are for. This other stuff is over the top and simply unconscionable.
Don’t forget the millions we will pay to upgrade everything for the 500 families the Mayor wants to move into the middle of downtown.
hey ,he don’t care he will move out of town.
