Reader suggests all 5 council members should meet with each department again to reevaluate and understand what’s been going on

New Ridgewood Council Gets Down to Village Business

file photo by Boyd Loving

She exhibited several episodes of unprofessionalism and inappropriate behavior to be our village manager. Her classless, drama-filled exit yesterday; interfering with citizen’s right to petition and most importantly spending over $200,000 of taxpayer money on a highly contested, questionable outcome of the garage. She signed construction documents committing to a floor plan for the garage BEFORE the November vote. She did not seem to understand that she reported to a 5 member council, that all 5 members represent residents. Her treatment towards 2 council members and residents was horrible and several displays of arrogant, disrespectful treatment not only displayed bad judgment but her incapability to manage effectively. I think all 5 council members should meet with each department again to reevaluate and understand what’s been going on (Roberta led meetings with new council members but her presence thwarted full disclosure from employees).

  1. Not a bad idea….

  2. Staff should be sternly informed that they are not to collude in planning projects that have not been discussed and approved in public.

  3. 2:55 pm – at some point, prior to releasing to the public, project have to be discussed and focussed. The planning processes doesn’t generally start with public input. Strawman proposals have to be developed FOR public input.

  4. lololololololz. talk about not understanding our form of government. this isn’t a condo association people. there are rules.

  5. They get too far before bothering to tell the council about it.

  6. yes that all well and good, but with out the top managers . just the formen and crews will be at the meeting. in the past the top managers came.

  7. yes, let’s have the village council micromanage, this will insure that anyone that is competent will stay clear of working for a Town where they are heavily manipulated by people with zero experience in running a municipality. I wonder how many more relatives of Council Members will be hired? Maybe a niece or nephew that will be hired to be the new Village Manager.

  8. “people with zero experience in running a municipality” Thats what Roberta had

  9. Why don’t you use your real name 10:45. Roberta hire her friends but thats ok with you.

  10. It’s not micromanaging for those who must sign off on a grant application form to be told about its existence in advance and the background behind it–not have an “urgent” request for their vote at the last minute, with the no-bid contractor already verbally signed up. That’s not how democracy is supposed to work or millions of tax dollars spent. We all know the amount of the grant is typically a drop in the bucket.

  11. Chris Peale…(aka Rurik) meeting with departments without the boss is a good idea. An employee was pleading for this to happen on this blog back in June. Apparently, Roberta escorted new council members to village departments, etc. and employees felt stifled. They had something to say but couldn’t with her presence. Before a new boss arrives, what harm is there in it? The BS lies and deception that have occurred at Village Hall need to be investigated. Employees want to talk. I completely agree with the gentleman who asked for a full investigation into the high density issue and others wrongdoings. The absence of these past council members, and Roberta, is great but the disaster left behind should now be the responsibility of the new council to investigate and clean up, not citizen groups.
