Bike Lane Traffic Easing Ridgewood

” If they don’t restore two lanes in each direction at the underpass by the train station VERY VERY SOON (by the fall would be good) it is going to become nearly impossible to shut it down during construction and traffic will become more of a nightmare than it is now. It is going to cost a fortune but the need to remove the idiotic bike lane and revert to two car lanes in each direction was clear and inevitable from the day they announced the project that messed it up. Aronsohn must be laughing hard as he must always have known this would simply mean more contract $$$ for the construction unions who financially supported his political rise. “

  1. This bike lane is just ridiculous! I use that road everyday and have NEVER seen a biker on it. And unless they had a suicide wish no one would ever bike it. Most cars make the green covering into a car lane anyway, esp the side heading towards W Ridgewood Ave. How did this ever happen to begin with!?

  2. This horse was beat to death years ago.

    1. its still one lane and high density housing will make a even bigger choke point

  3. ditto… amen ditto ditto….. the bike lane has to go … so obvious

  4. They can’t get rid of the bike lane because they took money with the promise to put in the bike lane.
It would take some legal wrangling and $$$ to get rid of it..

    1. the 3 amigos should pay for it

  5. Leave it one lane and let the apartment projects impede traffic flow to the CBD. Then maybe the store owners who were so passionate about dumping the housing projects on the town will understand why so many of oppose overbuilding.

  6. Sonnenfeld, former manager, should pay for it. She promoted it big time. Was it her idea in the first place. She sure argued for it assuring residents they would love it.

Going to Farmers market from east side, I walk under the train crossing, park on east side. If I ever have to go to west side from east side I go way around taking Monroe Ave.

Doctors on west side of town or Midland Park I sometimes see. Only reason for west side use. Take various buses to NYC.

  7. can’t they leave the bike lane and just make it a dotted line thus permitting cars to “share” it?

  8. Didn’t Jeanne Johnson also have something to do with that fiasco?

  9. It was sold to us as a form of “traffic calming” as a way to make life safer.

  10. How about replacing the windows at the train station. They are a disgrace. Where did all that money go, Humm,

  11. This is one of many bike lanes being proposed. And since the attitude in this town is grant money is for the taking, don’t be surprised if more lanes to nowhere appear. Paint a stripe, collect your money and kick back the grant writer.

  12. How about replacing the village engineer. Shouldn’t he have known it was dangerous

  13. The bottom line is a few people really screwed up here. Whoever gave the OK messed up big-time. Maybe the intentions were good but that’s about it. Was this about getting money from the county.

  14. Yea yea let’s not forget Jeane johnson she pushed the dangerous greeen bike lanes, wanted the hugest monster Hudson Street garage, wanted the highest density housing multifamily housing projects for her vision of an urbanized Ridgewood. Let’s not forget her Ridgewood Talks podcast and how it was manipulated to help her candidates Willett and Harwin.

Yea don’t forget jeane johnson dolally

  15. Did a someone involved with grant get money? Kickback? How would that be okay?

  16. It is an atrocity and an eyesore, but you at least can save some face with it. The town should look into electric scooter and or a bike ride sharing like lime or jump so people can actually utilize the bike lane for something and be a little more “green”.

  17. Jeanne Johnson with her insaniac smile wants us to have bike lanes on Rout 17 now. Seriously. She does.

  18. The village needs to spend money and time on repaving the worst roads in town.

  19. Nothing Wrong with the Green bike lane to be honest, it’s fine right where it is. You get a lot of people who don’t for 1 know how to drive? 2 don’t pay attention either. Cyclist have the right away at all times. Yield when you non drivers see us (cyclist) in the GREEN bike lane. FACTS

  21. “bike lanes on Rout 17 ” would be amazing. I’ll vote for that. Get off your fat asses and get bike.
