Reader , Whats with the Attacks on Bernie Walsh ?
you sound for all the world like a desperate current officeholder sweating their re-election chances. You uncivilly bad mouth our esteemed former Councilwoman Bernadette Walsh as if she were a current candidate vying to replace you on the Council. (We should be so lucky. You should keep your powder dry if in fact you anticipate facing her as a future electoral opponent!) You further hypocritically introduce party politics into your discussion regarding Ms. Walsh, as if she ever allowed her already well-known political affiliation to affect the way she conducted herself as a (successful) candidate for Ridgewood council, or as a (successful) sitting Councilwoman. (Which, of course, she never did, having full and complete respect for the clear strictures imposed by the Faulkner Act.) Finally, you blithely and coldly use the word ‘failed’ when discussing Ms. Walsh’s bid for a county-wide position. This is a transparently malicious bid to paint her as some kind of sad sack candidate, a characterization no right-thinking Ridgewood resident who knows her at all would ever accept, particularly coming from an individual clearly clutching at so many straws to defend an incumbent who was himself a ‘failed candidate’ for US Congress. Would do us all a favor and slink back into the humble roadside hole you came out of, Mr. Mudslinger?
Thanks for setting the record straight Bernie
Thank you for this articulate and accurate post!. Three certain someones were well known to attack Councilwoman Walsh on the dais (incivility, incivility, incivility). The nasty attack on her here on the Blog sounds eerily familiar. They will never change their spots, they are desperate, pitiful power-grabbers, who will attack anyone who gets in their way, or who even might get in their way. It is increasingly apparent that they are running scared about election 2016. There is no question that the good citizens of Ridgewood must rise up and get rid of them.
8:58, good try, but we know Bernie did not post that.
Ok, lets try this….name 4 things Bernie accomplished as Councilwoman. Just 4, and they have to be things she suggested and worked on personally to get done.
I expect to hear crickets!
8:58, Bernie is known and well-liked and can expect to receive unsolicited and effective air support on this blog and in other places in Ridgewood. She has no need to, and would therefore never post comments pretending to be one of her supporters. Perhaps the same can’t be said for certain other current or past officeholders, but with her, the neck is stiff, the skin thick, and the ego strong enough to exercise discretion rather than leap into an anonymous back and forth with her every detractor.
Bernie Walsh’s accomplishments or lack thereof as a respected member of the Ridgewood Village Council are by no means on trial here. She is not currently on the council, nor was she ever voted off the council, and is not (yet?) a candidate to return to office.
The cricket noise you hear is the sound of like-minded friends chiming in to reinforce your unwarranted attacks. In other words, you’ve been called out as an uncivil neighbor and would do well to lie low for a little while, at least.
While you’re doing that you might want to sit quietly somewhere and appreciate that we have a forum here in town at which one can freely (.e., within reason) post one’s ideas and thoughts about local events, people and issues and see if they resonate or not, without the need to publicly identify yourself in the first instance as is typically the case with letters to the Editor.
She would win easily if she ran again.
Yea, just as I thought 1:02 PM you can’t mention one thing Walsh accomplished so you avoid the question and attempt to shift the conversation. Great liberal tactic if you use it on someone who isn’t aware of it. Too bad I see through your attempt. The Fact is Walsh has NO accomplishments during her time as a Council member.
Regarding you claim that I am an uncivil neighbor since when is pointing out a fact make someone an uncivil neighbor. Oh wait you must be a Clintonite who believes your position or candidate is above reproach. Well guess what, That crap don’t matter with me and others. I call the as I see them, like it or not.
The crickets are still chirping!
Walsh has more integrity in her little finger then all three amigos have combined
3:23
You seem to be very self-satisfied and smug. You won’t be either next year when the election has come and gone and the three amigos are history. Which they will be. That much is certain. All of your condescending arrogance and blustery words will not change the outcome of the election. You only have one vote like the rest of us. Why don’t you crawl into the dirt in your basement with the crickets.
Sorry to burst your bubble 9:54 PM but you have mistaken me for someone who supports who you call the “three amigos” Well I couldn’t care less if they run, don’t run, get elected or don’t get elected. What happens with them doesn’t in the slightest way matter to me. Again, nice attempt at avoiding the person in question, Walsh, and what accomplishments she made during her time as a council member.
The crickets are getting tired.
Now go crawl back under that bridge you live under troll and leave the intelligent people alone, thank you.
So you dont live in Ridgewood?
Name something the three amigos accomplished in office . . .
Not with the Crickets 3:32 will be with the rest of the cockroaches
7:26 AM Why should I answer your question when you clearly refuse to answer my question.
James, of course I live in Ridgewood. Why do you ask?
then how is whats going on at Village Hall and the CBD not going to effect you ?
Concerted effort is clearly made by the three amigos on a weekly basis to disadvantage the non-Amigo minority, keep them off-balance, and make sure they ‘know their place’. This is a very difficult environment for individuals with integrity who are not inclined to fight back using the same kind of underhanded tactics. We are lucky to have Mr. Sedon and Ms. Knudsen on the council and will do well to ease their burden in the near future by supplying them with worthwhile colleagues.
This may come as a shock to you James but smart people don’t let things they have no control over influence their lives. Local politics has little to no impact in my life beyond property taxes.
The Valley Hospital proposal if it was approved wouldn’t have change my life, the development of the Business district will not change my life.
How do I know this, simple, the T&W Ice Cream plat development now known as 1200 E Ridgewood avenue was suppose to ruin the Village when it was proposed. Guess what, it didn’t.
The development on the Hopper Animal Hospital property on Prospect Street was going to forever change the makeup of the Village from single family homes to only Town Houses in future developments, that didn’t happen either.
And lets not forget the Bank craze of the 2000’s when almost every bank you could think of came to town and had a store front and all the business district consisted of was restaurants and banks. This trend was suppose to kill the business district because banks could afford the expensive rents and they would drive the rents up for other tenants. That didn’t change my life and surprise surprise many of those banks are gone and the business district still survives.
If you think the goings on at Village hall or the business district are going to effect your life materially then you really need to get a life James.
love the pedantic tone , reminds me of that “captain jack’ guy
What a cogent, well thought out, reasonable, smart reply James. You clearly are a genius.
I have no idea what the “captain jack’ guy refers to, but guess what, I don’t care.
The comment at 10:42 am is dripping with sarcasm.
