Dear Susan,
Please try to do some meaningful work for Ridgewood in 2018. Something tangible that affects our everyday life. I can help you with ideas. Thank you.
P.S. I AM NOT a Roberta fan.

The Mayor has done lots of hard work for the betterment of her family’s lives…. #self-servingCouncil
You mean enriching her family isn’t hard work? Schedler seems to be important to the Mayor, I wonder why? Any property owned by interested parties nearby? Election donation records would suggest that there are, which is a conflict of interest. Police contracts are also conflicts given two sons on the force, etc, etc, etc… these meaningful efforts should be improving everyday lives for all residents, right?
Let’s all hope that the council will wake up and start serving Ridgewood. Some attempt at answering the millions of questions directed toward the council would certainly be a nice change. Otherwise, at least be honest and come to council meetings with blindfolds and earplugs on. You’re not listening now and that would at least show you are aware of it. Smiles and friendly faces just won’t do it anymore!
The Mayor will be one & done. Kids on the police force? Check. Schedler protected from the RBA? Check. Property tax increases to pay for higher police salaries & benefits? Check. Buying the old Elks building to be a possible future home of the RPD? Check. Ridding Ridgewood of its largest employer in Valley? Check. I’m sure many more examples will come out in the wash, as well. The blog would be well served by digging up more dirt on this mess, it stinks worse than the toxic underwater plume under the old Town Garage.
One day into the new year and Aronsohnians pushing for Willett and Weitz are already hard at it. You make me sick.
Wtf is this post about? Why doesn’t Hans the poster explain what work he’s expecting or what hasn’t been done according to him. One man’s meaningful is another man’s waste. I don’t want my tax dollars being wasted on a hans dream.
Pathetic 11:30. Everyone knows, or should know, Ridgewood is civil service and village council has no control over hiring. New Jersey Civil Service dictates all hiring procedures.
Aronohn was there for eight years and left a mess. knudsen had me at 3066 repealed and we should never forget the garagezilla, huge multifamily apartments, 94’high Valley expansion, the clear cutting of public lands, healthvarn giveaway, the uncivil aronsohn puccciareli hauck sonenfeld bunch.
Some mess to clean up and good job .
Give it up, Trolls. Stop trying to gin up outrage where none exists. Your propaganda rings as hollow as it gets.
Valley outgrew its patch of ground. That is what drove its decision to move the hospital, not anything the Mayor or council did or didn’t do.
I own property near the schedler and so do all my neighbors. It is a neighborhood. I voted for Knudsen and so did all the neighbors from the neighborhood. I’d vote for Knudsen again.
12:33 are you confused from anesthesia? Valley is the largest and most abusive tax exemption in Ridgewood. The so called non profit, with the cool 2mil CEO, promised Paramus a payment in lieu of taxes. Ridgewood got banners and t-shirts. Valley does not employ mostly Ridgewood residents and their employees do not shop, eat or support Ridgewood. I will be happy to see them go and look forward to the new use FINALLY PAYING TAXES!
12:33 “Schedler protected from RBA? Check” Speaking of “check” what happened to the $100000 check the RBA paid to fund the project? Why was the check never deposited as required by law? Who autorized Sonenfeld to illegally hold and return the money? More shenanigans from the rogue former village manager. Who knew about the bait and switch application for county grant money? Maybe you 12:33.
Are we waking up? The mayor has two on the police and one on the fire department. She has been busy. Remember these were the same kids she argued (and got banned from school meetings ) couldn’t succeed in school without more tax payer help. Now they are walking around with guns, salaries, pensions, etc.
Sedon had to attend council meeting as part of his “job” at a local paper and now we have him as deputy mayor. Does this team strike anyone as movers and shakers? Does anyone get a sense of strong determined leadership or wisdom.
Let’s recruit a retired CEO or businessman in town to get things done in the village and schools. We need the best, not local nice people with agendas.
Don Delzio back again I see.
Knudsen trolls out again in force… oi vey.
Who had the Ridgewood police hiring requirement for a college degree changed, just asking? Wonder why? Hmmmmmm…. if the Village was allowed to recruit from the area instead of just Village of Ridgewood residents, there’s a good chance many of our recent hires wouldn’t be on our force which seems like a shame given we pay amongst the highest police wages & benefits in Bergen, NJ and the entire country. We’re not getting our money’s worth if we can only recruit Village residents instead of the most qualified candidates which is how the private sector works. Does Goldman Sachs hs only hire the kids of current and former employees? Instead, for their tax dollars, Village taxpayers are stuck with legacies – the children of former RPD employees, and two of the Mayor’s sons. Can anyone tell me if they would have been hired with the College degree equivalent requirement in place? Where did they rank amongst the recruitment pool when you include residents of Paramus, Glen Rock, Ho-Ho-Kus, Waldwick, Midland Park, Wyckoff, Hathorne, Paterson, etc? Our tax dollars are wasted when we can only hire Village residents – a rule clearly in place to ensure the RPD can choose legacy hires and the kids of local Council members.
Jeez, I thought Blog readers were overwhelmingly in favor of a garage based on the poll above? 68% say “Yes” to the question, “Would You be In Favor of a Smaller Garage that fit the Footprint of the Hudson Street lot”. Now the Mayor’s trolls don’t want a garage?
Did the Council se the precedent set by Morristown and get the payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) from Valley finally?
How is the remediation of the toxic plume under the old Town Garage next to Ben & Jerry’s coming?
Amazing how much of a personal agenda the current Mayor has, all supported by her trolls on this blog and others…. not serving Village taxpayers and enriching her family members (two sons in the police, one in the fire dept) at our expense. It’s shameless self-serving and agenda-driven politics. There should be no place for this in our community.
There isn’t a council person alive that doesn’t have some kind of an agenda. Maybe personal, maybe for family maybe for the love of the town. Why else would they subject themselves to constant judgement!!
BUT mis- use of our tax dollars is unexceptable!! And tax payers only have themselves to blame to not be educated about the mis-use. It is right in front of your faces
A small example and easy to follow paper trail is the give away to a friend of Roberta’s at habernickle. This was done with full support of Paul, the businesses buddy Gwen, Albert, Tin Cronin, Nancy Bigos and the over paid Janet Fricke!
Maybe this agenda was personal as all of the above have been seen on many occasions socializing there…doubt they pay those crazy prices for the dinners served there…
And seriously farm to table…the garden is frozen, I don’t see live stock there and pizza????
Gosh, it is impossible to criticize this mayor or VC without being called names or even worse being named an Aronsohn supporter. I like Susan, her husband also is a noble man. I want her to succeed for her sake and also for ours so Aronsohn & Co do not come back and that’s why I criticize. It is not too much to ask for better streets, lighting etc. These are items that affect everyone.
One thing I have learned during my life in Ridgewood is that Vagianos owns this town.
It’s no longer the season to be a mayor-hater, 8:24am. Crawl back under your bridge.
I know one police applicant who was told a year ago that he couldn’t become a police officer without a college degree. How did it get changed? If it was literally changed to benefit one or more specific applicants, why? I know everyone must take the Civil Service and are put on a list. (other towns go by “Chief’s Choice” and not Civil Service). But changing the rules means that those applicants were not subjected to the complete hiring process. Frankly, that has a strong smell. Did the Mayor participate in changing the rules?
Shameless abuse of Villafe resodents’ property tax dollars. The three sons will end up costing Villagers milti-millions in wages, benefits and pensions. Must be nice
1:03 There has never been any college degree requirement. Name the so-called skipped person in Ridgewood, provide evidence. Show the before and after rule. Put up 1:03.
Somehow all forget history. The newly appointed sons of the mayor were argued (by their mother and current mayor) as being unable to maintain school grades without more school assistance. This was argued by the current mayor to the point she was asked not to attend school board meetings. This is not a criticism, I would do the same for my children, but it should be a concern that we are not getting the best police, rather locals, some of whom may have a added push to get the job. Really makes no sense that these are the best we could hire. These people were not numbers 1-2 on the list, somehow they jumped up quickly.
It really should be looked into and all the facts published one way or the other. If nothing is amiss, I would suspect the mayor and others would welcome a full investigation.
I am sure these are all nice people, but RW does not need nice people. We need leaders who can see and resolve issues, we need the best police, fire, teachers, administrators, etc. We pay way too much to be settling for anything but the best.
How old was the Civil Service list the town was using? Had testing for a later one been completed? If it was an old list, most of the yet unhired applicants were no longer interested and people can then be taken from the bottom of the list. The Knudson brothers were older and some of them would logically have already had a job they could keep. I’m sure it was done perfectly legally, but there is a lot of stretch if using an old list.
