Reader says it is a well know fact in Village Hall circles that Ms Green and the Library Board has been looking at the Elks property for some years. If you recall a post here that the L:library Board have been talking about plans for a Performing Arts center in our around the Library. Im sure you could go to the Library Board past minutes and fine that .

Its just to much of a coincidence that this comes up with everything going on in town.I don’t trust these three. Also check current and past board member you will see that 2 Council people were on the board and our mayor was the representive from the Council to the Library. Then there in one of the developers that also was a former member of the board along with one or two of the finical board members. Check it out you will surprised who is involved.

North Jersey .com July 2015
A couple of library board trustees said they want to move ahead with the original plan, which called only for the renovation of the library, and add in the construction of a performing arts center next to the library and village hall. This would turn the library and its surrounding area into the cultural hub the members are seeking.

Just when you thought you’d heard it all the fly has learned that . . .

Library Board members have proposed buying the Ridgewood Elks Lodge building at 111 North Maple Avenue for library expansion purposes (additional parking and building expansion). Just what we need; another property taken off the tax rolls.
A Graydon Pool Improvements Committee has been formed. Reportedly, one plan under consideration by committee members is converting the existing facility into a year round “mini country club” and imposing significant fees for membership. Can you say “exclusively elite” 10 times fast?
Hold onto your wallets tightly ladies & gentlemen!

  1. Lets see what the 6 new candidates think abut this one way or the other.

  2. If the Library has enough funds available to contemplate this purchase then they obviously no longer need a subsidy from the general fund. After all, they do receive a statutory percentage of real estate taxes.

  3. Sounds like a bit of a conspiracy theory

  4. Why did the Elk Club assessed value (and taxes) get cut in half from 2014 to 2015?

Can I get a deal like that? They now pay $14,000, presumably they paid $28,000 in prior years. How did this appeal go through? I appealed my assessment and saved $50.

  5. And don’t forget – this frees up another liquor license!!!

  6. Its all about the liquor license. The restaurant mafia is running (ruining) Ridgewood.

  7. Political favors are being called in from all corners of the state and country like close air support, artillery and mortar fire. The elites have no intention of going down to defeat this June.

  8. If the library had a bar resident usage would go way up!

  9. I was wondering about the liquor license. Raymond’s would probably love it. They could sell overpriced food AND alcohol, instead of just overpriced food.

  10. Maybe the developer has ideas for the building.

  11. Most Elk Clubs in New Jersey do not pay property taxes at all, can Ridgewood Elks get a deal like that?

  12. Think just got lowered because they were a charity organization and they just realize that under the new regime that was running the place …… This is the total money grab on the Grandlodge organization from what I view it as I have some friends that were involved in the Elks club personally and I will be speaking with them shortly and post their views and opinions on what transpired

  13. Thanks Sarra. I think poster here would want to know.

  14. Little cafe in library lobby could be a bar. Get sloshed before checking out your books and run over somebody in the parking lot.

  15. 2.12 Raymond’s smaller tables are about the size of a doll house.
2 plates of eggs or a main course can cause major crisis as to where the hell the plates can land..overpriced,

  16. Sheesh, we’ve got a Raymond’s hater on our hands…..

  17. I have somewhat of an idea of when went down …… Dirty dealings with the elks ….. Sound like the grand lodge did the members wrong !!!!!! Check out the amount of times mayor Paul has been over to that lodge to support them and what they stand for ….. Our community !!!!! And please !!! The library can take away a bit of their lawn and a few of their parking spot and people could park in the new parking garage uptown A joke I say !!!!! Support the small guy in this battle !!!!! The Elks members got rail roaded out of there ….. And not by the town …. That’s what I here so far

  18. Good lord people…everything is a conspiracy in Ridgewood is it not? Give it a rest. The club membership is dealing with over zealous state reps ( in very fancy tuxedos mind you) who have been gunning for the lodge for years. It’s not business, it’s personel. The membership has retained councel who will defend their interests. This includes the building that does NOT belong to ANYONE other than the clubs membership via a holding corporation to protect it from situations just like this. So forget your theory’s , forget about the library and forget about ANYONE getting anything that belongs to the lodge.
