I knew someone would get around to blaming Gabbert. Its not the council fault when something goes wrong. They only take the credit when something goes right and that is far and few.
This is the same Roberta Sonenfeld who was getting such praise when she was appointed.Looks like the “partisan hack” criticism was all true .
So what your saying is that are new hand pick Village Manager didn’t notify the Council because the past Village Manager had an arranged it that way. Really. A Village Manage with any background on that intersection should have brought it to the Council especially when they live on the West Side and should be familiar with that route. This is not on the job training. Next you are going to tell us that our mayor is going to use a page from our president book. “I only found out about this when he watched the news.” Please

I’m not defending anyone, but…. the Village is spending $500,000 to “improve traffic” and some of that money is grant money. This didn’t happen in the last 6 weeks or even in the last six months. This has been studied and planned for a long time. You don’t get grants, draw up spec’s, get engineering plans, go out to bid and start major road construction in a matter of weeks. The Council was either; Clueless to what kind of reaction there would be, (very possible) or felt so strongly that this boondogle was the way to go that they chose not to publicize it or look for public input and figured they would just blame someone else when the you know what hit the fan. Looks like their plan is working.
#1- The village made clear Tuesday night the re-paving project had a years long timeline. Anecdotal conversations with attendees who have spoken with village leaders back up your assumption of mis-judging the reaction. The patient was pregnant for a very long time and this group was left all alone on delivery day.
One of the greatest assets in downtown Ridgewood is that Ridgewood east to west is slowed down by going thru via the underpass. Why mess with long standing success? If this doesn’t go well the annoyance factor could instill seeking other options elsewhere. Amazing no traffic analysis considering the GWB uproar where traffic was actually stopped. This route is used several times a day by ambulances headed to Valley Hospital. Did the allure of public funding move this, the extra large divider & the unnecessary bike lane along? Looks like classic form over function.
boy the top managers are stuck in dog doo now.
