Readers suggest Ridgewood Library poll users

Before anything is done they need to research this. This is not about wanting a light and airy library and it is not about the director wanting a renovation, this is taxpayer money. They have clubs meeting there and tutoring taking place. Is this what we want in the library or should the focus be on access to books and information?

Who are the current visitors to the library
How often do they visit
What do they use it for

For residents who do not go to the library
What do they want in a library
Is there something missing that keeps them from using the library

For all residents – how many times a week/month/year do they visit the library
Is the library serving the needs of all residents

  1. I’d rather have Pease back. No lie.

  2. My family does not use the library. We get everything online. Through the schools we have access to research and periodicals and We get e books.

The library is just a rent an office rental space.

  3. Poll the nonusers too. Find out why they do not use the facilities. The issue before libraries is redefining their mission. There is a lot on the web about this.

    Is their mission learning
Is it circulating books – probably not
Is it to become a collaberative learning common like the high school
    If private tutoring collaberative learning
Is it community meting or entertainment space – this sems to be what Ridgewood Library wants
Some are looking at art and music classes

We need to identify the current and new mission of the Ridgewood Library. Is this in line with what the residents want to support?

    Where will everyone park?????
