Recall Ridgewood Councilman Jeffrey D. Voigt now!

Notice of intention
A recall committee of at least three registered voters is needed to initiate recall proceedings. This process may not begin until 50 days before the completion of the incumbent’s first year of the current term in office. The recall committee must notify the appropriate election official of the names and addresses of at least three members of the recall committee. The election official accepting the petition will then review the notice of intention for compliance with statutory provisions, calculate the cost of a special election, and notify committee members of the acceptance or rejection of the notice, within three business days. The election official also notifies the incumbent of the notice of intention of recall within five business and publishes a notice of the recall effort.
Signature requirement
Upon approval of the petition, the recall committee and other registered voters in the jurisdiction of the recall election will solicit the signatures of other registered voters in that jurisdiction. The recall effort is limited to 320 days for a Governor or 160 days for other elected officials from the date of the notice of intention. The petition requires the signatures of 25% of the registered voters in the jurisdiction, as of the last general election.
Petition review
The election official reviewing the petition will then certify the number of signatures and determine validity within 10 days. If the petition is accepted, the election official will schedule the recall election.

  1. I’m in! This asshole must go and go now.

  2. Douche bag supreme.

  3. If you don’t like Councilman Voigt then simply wait for the next election and vote for the other candidate.
Recalling is a toxic method of removal. Lets get some civility back in politics.

  4. I’m in. Who’s initiating this, Victoria Burpee?

  5. Is a majority vote sufficient to achieve the recall or some higher proportion?

  6. I think there are better uses of Ridgewood’s scant finances than to recall Voight. And by the time you round up 25% of the voters and then set up a vote, it will be almost time for his term to expire. It would be nice if he realized his “team” was never going to be elected and reduced his blasts as now useless for another 2 years. Trying to continue to support Paul’s goals is now useless and Paul should see it as a sign that since he’s been appointed to another job in which he could spend his time doing well. I’m sure the builders and other power men are not going to simply drown their sorrows but, hopefully, they’ll see that ganging up on Jeff will not produce the expansion and town control they had hoped for.

  7. Normally I would agree with letting the formal election cycles do their thing, but in his case, a recall is appropriate. He completely got elected by fraud. By that, i mean he dishonesty marketed himself on his positions. Yes, all politicians stretch the truth when campaigning but he performed the political equivalent of a Trojan Horse.

  8. Need over 4,500 signatures on the petition just to get this moving. Think 4,500 people even know his name?

  9. Waste of time – – let’s focus on getting the BOE budget in line, the roads paved, the developers put in their place, etc.

  10. Let’s work on making sure we have 3 excellent candidates who can easily win against those the Aronsohn crew will put forward in the 2020 election. Recall is a tough process. Mahwah has been trying to recall their mayor for over 7 years. Our time would be better spent ensuring that Voigt is marginalized during his remaining time on the Council.

  11. While I am all for Voight leaving and I am not opposed to a recall (although I would prefer he be voted out),
    .
However, I do not have any allusions that a recall can be successful – Do 25% of the registered voters even VOTE (for any candidate) in a municipal election? I think that getting 25% of the people to “vote” for 1 candidate is a stretch, let alone convincing 25% of the registered voters to get onboard with a process (recall) that is more severe and “controversial” than voting is quite a long shot.
    .
But go for it… I’ll sign. Voight is very toxic to the council and the town.

  12. Much as I’d love to see Mr. Voigt go down in the flames of public humiliation, I think that we should probably spend our time, energy and money on other things. He’ll be pretty impotent on the Council for the next two years and after the next election, he’ll hopefully be taking the same route as Mrs. Harwin out of town. We should be able to get rid of Mr. Lehman with less effort though right? That might be worth the time.

  13. 3000 people voted yay last night, they will sign. Then only 2000 more remaining.

  14. Here’s a simple way to rid ourselves of this douche bag: Have Aronsohn, Hauck, and Pucciarelli endorse him for Village Council in 2020. He’ll be burnt toast before it’s over.

  15. Only 2000 more remaining? Does anybody really want to spend a million hours on this? That said…hand me the form and a pen.

  16. 2020 Ticket…Bonita Schimfky, Steve Kim and Gail McCarthy!!!

  17. 631 – – second that platform! and if they don’t run there are some other good ones out there.

  18. It is not too soon to start finding good candidates. There will be THREE open seats. Hache, Voigt, and/or Walsh can run for reelection as well.

  19. Hache… total disappointment
