Ridgewood NJ, teens in Ridgewood have found a welcoming and vibrant space to connect every Wednesday night at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. The parish’s youth group hosts its popular “Open Center”, offering a fun, safe environment for young people to relax, socialize, and engage in friendly competition.
The activities are a big draw: ping pong, pool, air hockey, foosball, or simply hanging out and chatting with friends. But the real magic lies in the sense of community the event fosters among the parish’s youth.
A New Milestone
This past Wednesday, November 20th, the “Open Center” shattered its previous attendance record. A remarkable 138 teens showed up to participate, surpassing the previous high of 127 attendees.
The milestone is a testament to the event’s growing popularity and the church’s ability to create a space where teens feel valued and excited to gather.
Why It Matters
In an age where screen time often dominates social interactions, events like these provide much-needed opportunities for in-person connection. The church’s focus on building community and fostering friendships has clearly resonated with the parish’s youth.
Looking Ahead
With the momentum from this record-breaking night, the “Open Center” is sure to continue thriving as a cornerstone of youth engagement at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
If you’re a teen in Ridgewood or know someone looking for a lively and welcoming community, consider joining the next “Open Center” gathering. Who knows? The next record-breaking night might be just around the corner!
