Specific issues noted during a review of the document include:
- Incomplete Signatures: The petition contains 20 incomplete signatures with no full names or city locations, including one from “Scott Muller” with no city listed, and another from “Walter White,” a fictional character from AMC’s “Breaking Bad.”
- Non-Resident Signatures: 373 signatures, equating to 34% of the total, are from individuals who admitted to living outside Ridgewood. This is consistent with RBSA’s website which clearly states they do not serve Ridgewood, but “Ridgewood and its surrounding areas.” These signatures come from as far as Barranquilla, which is a city in Colombia. Who knew that the RBSA had such a strong presence in Columbia?
- Questionable Signatures Showcasing Inaccuracies: Notable signatures, if genuine (TBD – as there is no way to verify online petitions), include Michael Winograd, Ridgewood Councilperson Siobhan Winograd’s husband, who listed another town as his residency (Haledon); Paul Vagianos, who listed Tampa, Florida; and Evan Weitz, who signed as a Ridgewood resident, showcasing the absolute bias from the Village Council.
Given these inaccuracies, is there any validity to this petition?
Hasn’t the Village of Ridgewood refused to accept online petitions in the past? Shouldn’t the State of NJ Department of Environmental Protection do the same thing and ignore this questionable collection of names, addresses, and signatures?

Thank you to the Anonymous and Unverified Facebook poster who highlighted the unverified supporters of the petition – showing the names of everyone who supported really drives home the incredible volume of 713 legitimate Ridgewood signatures that we all recognize!
Going the legitimate and ethical route didn’t seem like it was going to yeild the desired results. You know, let’s “borrow” an email distribution list that doesn’t belong to us and ratched up the number of signatures so we can be on the top of shit pile. This is also a great way to teach those young impressionable minds about how cheating can get you ahead and that real sportsmanship is only something you read about in the story books or see on tv.
A bunch of folks who don’t live in Ridgewood received this email request for signatures and couldn’t believe it came from the Dad’s Night Crew and later we found out it was misappropriated. Shame, shame.
Agreed. It’s best to teach them young that nobody ever accomplishes anything by playing by the rules. Weak and non-creative people will call it cheating but I call it playing without handicaps. Leave that “real sportsmanship” crap to movies.

Smacks of total desperation and drives home a prime example of a group of people who lack any kind of integrity to try to get what they want even it involves manipulation. It isn’t just RBSA, the leaders of all of the other groups they represent are likely involved in this much fest as well.

I am friends with Scott and I saw the petition. I signed without hesitation.
Scott has been a long time volunteer for RBSA and I appreciate all that he has done for Youth Sports. My 3 children played baseball and Softball
Maybe its time for you and Scott to find a new hobby/cause?

I don’t know the guy but I certainly am not in favor of this manipulative maneuver or the way he has treated certain people within the community and that I have witnessed first hand and in public. It is not okay. You may have different morals and that is okay for you but it isn’t going to fly in a small town where respectable values should take priority. It is not the way an adult should behave and this person is not a role model that I would want my kid to learn from.

Any legitimate organization receiving the result of this petition should ignore it. It’s much too easy to fabricate, mis-collect or misrepresent data collected this way.
Grove Street Park is a great place to build the unnecessary sports facility. It’s away from the dangerous Rt. 17 corridor, near ‘The Lawns’, an area teeming with children.
Or, the Village can just properly plan and schedule the use of our existing facilities that are nearly ALWAYS EMPTY.
