Dear Ridgewood Public School Community,

The Ridgewood Board of Education (“Board”) and the Ridgewood Education Association (“Association”) have been unable to agree on the terms of a successor agreement to the 3-year contract, which expired on June 30, 2018. The Association represents the teachers and secretaries employed in the Ridgewood Public School District.

In anticipation of the contract’s expiration, the parties met four (4) times, including one time with a State Mediator. The Board also awaits confirmation from the State as to calendar year 2019 health benefit rates.

When unable to make progress toward a settlement, the Mediator moved the parties to the next stage of collective bargaining known as “Fact-finding”. The State-appointed Fact-finder has scheduled a mediation session for October 9, 2018.

The Board looks forward to the Fact-finder’s assistance in addressing health benefits and their impact on the total compensation package the Board is willing to offer its employees within the legally-mandated tax levy cap for the 2018-19 fiscal year and beyond.

The Board is committed to work with the Fact-finder towards a successor agreement.

Until a settlement is reached, the District’s teachers and secretaries will continue to receive, without interruption, salaries and health benefits under the terms of the expired contract.
Sincerely,

Ridgewood Board of Education

  1. So begins the fake news pillow fight leading uneluctably to the BOE caving to the demands of the local teachers union. Whom do they think they are fooling?

  2. Ineluctably or unelectable? Darned autocorrect.

  3. Let’s settle this soon so we can reschedule the Teacher Appreciation Day!

Remember… Do it Fer Da Kidz… remember to withold those Senior Admissions Reference letters.
