Ridgewood NJ, The Village of Ridgewood has just advised that the Ken Smith parking lot area will be closed to all parking as of September 11, 2018.

Employees are advised that parking is available at COTTAGE PLACE (behind The GAP) – with parking permit of $20 it cost *25 cents and 50 cents  per hour (this is the least expensive place to park in Ridgewood) you can park at WALNUT STREET parking lot -with parking permit of $20 at *75cents per hour…still inexpensive.

Street parking is going up to *75 cent per hour STARTING September 4, 2018 with strict street enforcement for repeat parking.

  1. ALERT ALERT ALERT
You can keep parking in front of your stores.
The taxpayers have agreed to subsidize a parking deck for you.
Don’t believe that “strict street enforcement for repeat parking”.
If they were able to do that it might have negated the need for a parking deck.

  2. I will continue to avoid the CBD like the plague. Decision made when decision to build multi family housing was decided.

Everyone should get their prescription drugs at Stop & Shop to avoid the CBD. Dine in Ho Ho Kus and Glen Rock or anywhere but not in town. Stop & Shop pharmacy delivers drugs to homes if needed.
. So don’t patronize the CBD. Bulilding a parking deck is ugly expensive and unnecessary. There is no place in Bergen County that does not get overcrowded occasionally.

The guests who visit the multi family housing residents will use the parking garage, and it will be way overcrowded in town. Very poor decision to build multifamily housing and parking deck. So don’t patronize, let the multifamily housing residents patronize the CBD. That is what the shopkeepers want anyway. They wanted the garage and multifamily housing for their business profit. So let them have it and stay away.

  3. Cottage Place surface lot is like the Craters of the Moon.tread carefully

Lawyers must love that trip and fall hall of fame..

Town knew all this was coming and ignored pleas to get their rears In gear and repave that dangerous surface Lot..it’s in the core of the business district near Maple..complete mismanagement on display ..

there’s a new daily parade In town ..dump trucks and much more to come..

shoppers will go to other towns for basic needs and services. Why put up with this crap,..Poor Planning ..shocked..? few are ..

  4. I was in
Park. West when bartender moved his car from one side of stree to the other
It’s easy to spot it happens all day

Parking reserved for employees always empty

  5. the few small business tech and other small office start ups in RIDGEWOOD will move to other towns ,,technology abhors the need to put up with parking Bs

small retail shops are screwed ..more closing to come byJanuary 2019

people don’t put up with expensive metered Parking .Glen Rock has this
completely correct ..I shop there .get haircuts and drug store items quite easy to get into Glen Rock for small routine purchases and services

RIDGEWOOD is screwed up…Bad planning ,,Bad decisions on bad decisions ..this is where we are folks Taxed to death and roads are crap.

  6. Clear Business Case : Let them eat cake.

Clear reply : We will Vote with our Feet .

Bottom line of mismanagement : excessive loss of customers and operating costs on non performing assets I.e. : Hudson St Garage and massive revenue losses. Town then broke and wolves take over to fight for the Bone.

  7. The ladies that work at a prominent hair salon on E Ridgewood Avenue have a lock on the meters in front of and across the street from their salon. They feed the meters around 9:30 and then good luck for anyone else.

  8. I have been down town every day this week and easily found parking.
    Times were spread across the day… 10am 11am, 1pm, 3pm, this week.
In fact the MOST parking was in the Hudson street lot and on the surrounding streets… easily over 30 open spots.
    .
A prking garage IS NOT needed – ESPECIALLY at Hudson street.
    .

  9. What a mess!

  10. I would never ever pay for parking. Why should anyone pay for parking people going to wind up going to the mall free parking on your block to you and many many stores and at cheaper prices.

  11. REMEBER… ITS ALL A RUSE….
    .
THE PARKING GARAGE IS FOR THE LOW INCOME HOUSING DEVELOPERS….
    .
IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY PARKING NEED
    .

  12. As many people point out anyone can find parking regardless day of the week or time. It is a matter of managing what we have. Our current local government is incapable of dealing with this management issue as with many other quality of life issues we face. Instead of thinking how to solve these problems they throw our $$$ into enormous projects that will create additional problems and will ruin this place for good. We picked these people to govern us, we suffer the consequences. Having more than half the residents in town not having a clue about what’s happening makes it worse. And I don’t like the fact that the mayor has real estate business in town.

  13. It’s all coming together. Think about it.

  14. 10”15. Yes u are so right ‘ but keep that under the mat ‘

  15. For the summer side walk days they should of had. Free parking. So dumb ‘not thinking.are they. U need to lure shoppers into town. My god.

  16. 5:07pm August is not the time to judge the parking availability.

  17. People can you imagine with the village is going to look like I’m five years. You better park your car and start walking. Because you’re not gonna be able to move through town. It’s going to be one very busy Village. I don’t care if they build three parking garages.I can’t wait for the village to pass the ordinance on food carts in the village. It’s going to be great just like New York City.

  18. How about reconstructing park-and-ride out in rt 17 And make a parking garage there that would make a lot of money.

  19. Don’t believe that “strict street enforcement for repeat parking”. – That’s not going to happen until garage bond is issued.
