Ridgewood NJ, the Council discussed the Hudson lot options . Bob Rooney Village CFO gave the following options  1) sell the lot on Hudson Street, 2) lease property  to garage builders . Which is only available for non profit s  3) Award a contract for design 4) declare Hudson Street as a redevelopment zone with no restrictions.

The Village Council chimed in with both Bernie and Jeff said own and build , the Mayor said redevelopment seemed impractical.
A new “Walker Study ” was needed due to the all the new development projects and on going urbanization of  the Village adding  additional traffic and congestion.   Bob Rooney said “Walker” would not have to start from scratch but revise their numbers .
Councilwomen Walsh tackled the elephant in the room by stating the parking garage will end up being filled by Central business district tenets instead of shoppers and commuters . Bob Rooney pointed out that the previous Walker report had already laid out the allocations for how many spots must be allocated to what type of parking .

  1. Mr. Rooney is our CFO, Chief Financial Officer. We don’t have a CEO, although if we did, it would be the Village Manager. Thank you for the report.

  2. EARTH TO COUNCIL: DO NOTHING EXCEPT RECONFIGURE EXISTING LOT TO FACILITATE ADDITIONAL SPACES BEING ADDED. THE END, PERIOD.

  3. So all other parking plans are off the table?
    .
The only discussion now is how big and what type of garage to build on Hudson street (so that the developers of the low income housing projects within walking distance can more easily fill any vacant apartments on the backs of the RW taxpayers)

  4. Why don’t we spend the money and reconstruct a few of the parking lots in the CBD, I just don’t understand this thinking .who is coming up with this ,who is running the village from the looks of it the mayor and council ,not the village manager or any other managers. From what I see they are all overwhelmed they need to go and work in a small town this is too much for them .Repave cottage , Walnut, Hudson

  5. Prohibit overnight parking in the garage.

  6. Low income housing ?
That’s where your going with this?
    Really?
Time to pack it in old timer…

  7. The garage will require increased meters rates in the CBD. Raise them today and take them for a test drive. The outrage should put this matter to rest once and for all.

  8. Dont you love how Jeff Voigt campaigned tirelessly to get the anti-garage referendum passed, collecting signatures, and taking money and political coffees from supporters of his campaign……….and then as soon as he got elected he started pushing to put up a giant garage. What kind of a guy is that?

  9. hey mr, Rooney , u just walked into this job. slow down a bit.the power is going to your head. in the end you are just a NUMBER , RIGHT.

  10. 931 – – I may not like his current position, but Voigt campaigned against the gararemahala that Aronson almost pushed through. He and others said they wanted a garage there, but smaller. They did not say no to any garage. I agree with 1115 – – clean up the lots and keep them as is.

  11. 5.44 is right..we compete with Glen Rock with 3 hours free honor parking and I for one make it a point to drive over there walk the district and shop there every week.i live on RIDGEWOOD .
