Ridgewood NJ, as if she hasn’t created enough trouble on Ridgewood’s eastside already, Councilwoman Siobhan Winograd has now publicly requested that previous plans for the construction of a 90-foot baseball diamond at the Lower Hawes Field be revisited.

Seemingly, the newly elected Councilwoman just doesn’t’ get it. We wish she would just stop pushing to introduce more traffic, more noise, and more litter into established Ridgewood residential neighborhoods.

Can someone please straighten her out? Maybe the mayor can? Or is he too busy attending to other matters . . .

  2. The mayor is busy voting on matters regarding the business district that will pad his own pockets.

  3. I think there is room behind Ridge School for a soccer field and lights.

  4. Let’s put a 90’ Diamond in Winograd’s front yard.

  5. Batting cages coming to the former town garage site. Traffic be damned, we need SPORTS, SPORTS, SPORTS EVERYWHERE!

THis is a horrible council at a really bad time.

    1. Easier to go to Glen Rock to hit in the batting cages, play baseball on the 60-90 dirt field or the state of the art new multi sport turf field and in the summer walk to the concrete town pool to cool off. All in one complex.

  6. Shiv – don’t poke the bear !

  7. The field envy council just cant take driving by that outstanding turf field on Doremus in Glen Rock. They even have dugouts which apparently are taboo in Ridgewood.

  8. Yes, Ridge School has lot of room for a full size ball field and lights.

  9. i don’t think winograd realizes that the councils only power is as a group after discussions in public. Seems like she wants to run the town herself…..

    1. Ha nothing has changed

  10. I’m willing to bet baseball participation in town is down by 15% from 10 years ago. Maybe more.

This is the soccer cabal pushing for a large turfed field.

Hawesians will not take this sitting down.

    1. RBSA is equally pushing for this… Former Pres Albano ran for town council for the sole purpose of pushing thru the 60x 90 Schedler field. Current pres picking up where he left off 6-7 years past.

Maybe the RBSA president position needs term limits. Let the parents with young kids in the program take over 2-3 years at a time

  11. As soon as the RBA is done the Pick Ball people will start.

    1. next to rt17 would be about the only place the loudness pickleball should be played.

    2. True! That would be the “we demand pickle ball but but not in our back yard” crowd.

  12. Remember, back in the 70s in the 80s who ran the village, the Board of Education, the women’s club, and the village realtor association in town. They have the power to squeeze any politician.

  13. What if we stopped pretending to be home to sports arenas?

  14. My favorite part is going to be watching them feel what it’s like to be bombarded with anger and insults.

  15. Speaking of straightening out, can someone please tell me why Siobhan keeps staring at the ceiling?

    1. Body language has a meaning, including eyes looking up to the right or to the left, eyes blinking, hand movements, playing with hair, etc.

  16. News flash, Somerville isn’t safe either.

  17. Those who voted for Siobhan and Paul V. having regrets yet?

    1. buyer remorse

  18. Why, they were staring at the ceiling, well, guess what it’s the eye in the sky, the whole village is bugged. they’re watching everybody. They think we don’t know, guess what we know.

  19. Residents of Ridgewood…. Wake up! You get what you voted for! Ever since the Village voted Aronson and his cronies into power, the Village has gone downhill fast. Now we have another council that will just continue down a similar path. It is so sad what has happened to Ridgewood and will continue, until we wake up, speak up and vote down these types of people to represent us.

  20. Yes there are cameras all over the place now. And they have not told us about them.we found them. Every one be aware.

  21. Turf and lights at Hawes will lower the value of the homes that surround the property by $75-$100K per house.

  22. Yes, they don’t trust anyone. They are looking to catch someone that’s not authorized. I wouldn’t be surprised down the road that all employees will be wearing body cameras.
