Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Powered by a strong performance from its doubles boats, Ridgewood Crew cruised to six flight victories and six overall top-three finishes at the 3rd Manny Flick / Horvat series. Sunday’s competition on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia is the third of a five-race series that serves as a warm-up for the upcoming spring regatta season. Teams compete in 1500-meter sprints for overall points throughout this series in both mens and womens sweeping and sculling disciplines. Sunday’s race was open to high school athletes from ninth through 12th grade, and attracted 429 entries from 75 clubs. Ridgewood had the most entries of any club, with 16.
Throughout the day, Ridgewood’s two-person teams set the pace, with three of the five boats winning flights and placing in the top three overall. Ridgewood seniors Elsa and Anais Friedrich (5:11.860) were the top performers on Sunday, easily winning their five-team flight in the Girls Varsity 2x race.
