Ridgewood NJ, on Wednesday at the Village Council meeting chief financial officer Bob Rooney laid out the case for a 4.3 percent municipal tax increase .Rooney explained that a tax increase is needed due to lost revenues from COVID-19, consecutive years of modest or no tax increases, and the use of one-time, non-recurring revenues to balance the budget. The 52.9 million Village budget including the 4.3 percent municipal tax increase will be voted on by the Village Council at the May 12 meeting .
2% is the limit, stop with all the goodies.
We told you they do what they want. Municipal tax, then you have your school tax, county tax, state tax, you fools voted to tie your hands up on school tax so shame on you stupid.
They spent and spent and now we the taxpayers will have to pay.
Didn’t the town get a check from the government for a few million??
Yes, the town got money from the government as did all towns, but all towns aren’t lucky enough to have a Mayor like Susan who has secret projects and uses that only she–or any of her family that may benefit–know about. Thus we can’t use that money to reduce out budget costs–it is only for Susan’s “slush fund”. I hate to be so nasty but Susan has her private adorers in power so she can do anything with anything she wants.
This is great, this is Hudson County chase all over again. Only if you know how to play. I do. Most of you don’t ,
PS they know how to play pickle ball right,
It’s so cool to run a town full of
RICH and STUPID
taxpayers.
Way cool…
I would like to know what the new apartment projects have cost us and will cost us over the next two years in terms of:
increased village services, fire, police & sanitation;
improvements needed to roads, parking, water infrastructure, and other facilities;
the proportionate cost of the Hudson street garage now being used to house overnight apartment parking;
increases in school enrollment and possible need to construct new school buildings; and,
how much damage has already been done to our roads and infrastructure due to construction, heavy machinery rolling through town, etc.
Versus:
What are we expected to bring in as far as existing or new taxes?
Have the developers sought tax abatements?
It would be useful to have a tally of the costs and revenue projections (real ones, not made up for planning board purposes by the developers and politicians who rammed these apartments through.)
They will raise our taxes BUT NOT raise healthbarn rent to be true market and they do NOt ask for a partnership for more than 4-5 classes a year. DUMB. Just give away the whole park to a private business. Is this even allowed?
This is outrageous. Where did the 2 percent tax cap go? I hear GOv Murphy created loopholes to raise taxes. People have to start voting and keep these people out of office and elect those who run the town as if it’s their money – you would see efficiency
