Ridgewood NJ, on Friday morning, September 20th, Ridgewood firefighters were called to the scene of a significant cooking grease and oil spill behind 51 North Broad Street, an area associated with at least two popular local restaurants.
Firefighters worked swiftly to mitigate the spill, using absorbent materials and pads to contain the grease that had spread across a driveway and parking lot. The quick response helped prevent any further environmental impact or potential hazards.
The Village’s chief health inspector has launched an investigation to determine the source and cause of the spill. Should the investigation reveal any connection to theft or attempted theft of used cooking grease—a valuable commodity—Ridgewood Police Department will be notified.
Fortunately, no illnesses were reported following the incident. Updates on the investigation are expected as officials work to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the area.
