The Committee, originally called the Ridgewood Independence Day Association, was formed in 1910.
The annual flag raising in Wilsey Square starts the Ridgewood Fourth of July Celebration off in true patriotic style. The event includes a short program based on the theme of each year’s parade and a traditional flag raising. Throughout the history of the celebration the parade and firework portions have on occasion been forgone due to funding or security concerns however the flag raising has occurred without interruption since the start of the committee in 1910. This year join your fellow patriots in the longest continually celebrated tradition in the history of The Ridgewood Fourth of July Celebration.
This years Parade Theme is : “United We Play” and the parade will feature special guest Mitchell Saron, who is on his way to the 2024 Summer Olympics to compete in Men’s Sabre. Mitchell is a Ridgewood native!
From the “Shot Heard ‘Round the World” in 1951 to “Do you believe in Miracles?” in 1980, the 90s Dream Teams, Katie Ledecky, Michael Phelps, Simone Biles, and the countless amazing athletic achievements we see on a national and local level, there is no doubt, sports are a huge part of our culture.. This summer from July 26th to August 11th the world will celebrate the XXXIII Olympic Summer Games and the world’s best athletes. We want you to help get the party started! Whether your parade entry highlights your favorite athletes, sporting events, memorable moments, or even Olympic event locations…there are plenty of ways to get creative. We look forward to seeing you again and making this year’s Ridgewood Fourth of July Celebration another great success!
