“I finally googled “handicapped requirements for historic properties”. It clearly states that historic properties are NOT excused from the ADA requirements. It agrees it might take a lot of work and evaluation to modify an historic property to make it accessible to all. It also states that “no building is grandfathered from the handicap regulations no matter how old and historic it actually is.” The council either has not taken this into consideration in the cost of “saving” the Schedler house, or believes that Isabella, being an architect, knew what she was talking about. So why is Ridgewood planning to restore (rebuild) a property that they will be unable to let the public use if everyone cannot enter—and go up and down at each new addition as none of the floors are actually level from room to room.”
Mayor Susan Knudsen responds ….
HI ,
Historic Architect Margaret Hickey included handicap accessibility in the Schedler house restoration plans. In fact, at a recent meeting there was a great deal of discussion about accessibility features and required modifications.
Hope all is well.
Best always,
Susan
Mayor Susan Knudsen
I drove by the Schedler Property yesterday on Route 17, the site looks great! Nice to see real progress.
Are you drunk or what, the site looks great I live down the block you nitwit. The place a mess and now you can look right through the property onto Route 17 talk about loss of privacy and more noise. Figures I rode past the property. And now they need to make the site handicap assessable which I’m all for but here we go more money, talk about a money pit when is the swimming pool going in the backyard. The place is a dump. Indian we will have millions into this piece of land. I get all the history i’m all for it but at what price tag. Believe me if the con of me wasn’t strong like it is today we will not be doing this. Today the stock market is back over 25,000 I remember 6000, remember people. A good majority of us were shitting in ther pants .
So very true. Sub would like to know how much money do we spend already at the site. Do we have a budget, do we have any kind of planning of where we going to stop. Are we going to have a budget per phace. Is there any plans of getting any kind of funds in the future from Greenacres the county the state federal government
Huh
They put in a $20,000 ramp for healthbarn so why not drop another 20 of our tax dollars at this park. They are very free with the use of our tax dollars.
1:23 and now everyone on the highway can see you. Too bad for them. “Indian” you will benefit once the work is complete. (nice language)
Mayor Knudsen, I’d like to know where and when these meeting take place. Where are the meeting announcements and can the public (not on your direct list) attend?
