Ridgewood NJ, its that time of the year again, there is a chill in the air and the Village of Ridgewood is set to celebrate the season at the second annual Oktoberfest event this weekend.
The West Village will host the event on Saturday and Sunday this weekend, starting at noon each day. The event features hayrides, a scarecrow exhibit, live music and a biergarten in the Wilsey Square Lot.
Prizes will be awarded in the scarecrow contest, and residents can buy a scarecrow-making kit for $15 to compete. Kits are available at Goffle Brook Garden Center, Olive R Twist and the Ridgewood Guild Office.
Since when is “The West Village” a thing”? Are we having too much fun for them east of the tracks?
Been here 30 years and have never heard of a “West Village” in Ridgewood.
That’s because every time they promote something it’s always on the side of town. They are doing more on the west side for now on. So don’t be lazy and walk over the tracks you EastSiders.
The CBD never involves the west side businesses or the west side of town. It’s hard enough to get a store front rented out on East Ridgewood Ave now try renting one out where the town has space but does nothing with it (train station parking lot). Car Show, touch a truck, etc would all do well there without causing mass traffic (which happens whenever East Ridgewood Ave is closed down). If Susan, the chamber, and the guild could all come together and treat all businesses in the CBD fairly I bet store fronts wouldn’t be so vacant.
But the buildings owned by Mr. Vagianos are on the east side of the tracks, so why boost the west side?
