Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Parks and Shade Tree Divisions, along with the Streets Division, are working diligently to remove the downed trees from the streets. They will continue to work during the day and into the evening, until all streets have been cleared. CAUTION: ALWAYS ASSUME ANY WIRE ON THE GROUND IS LIVE AND STAY AWAY! CALL PSE&G AND IDENTIFY ITS LOCATION SO THAT THEY CAN SEND SOMEONE TO CHECK IT. Downed trees which are caught in wires will be attended to after PSE&G has determined whether or not the wires are live.
Some areas of Ridgewood are still without power. If you do not have power and have not already done so, please call PSE&G Directly at 1-800-436-7734 or go to https://outagecenter.pseg.com/.
Please do not call the Police for power outage updates; instead consult the PSE&G website for updates.
Yesterday a big branch fell from my neighbor’s tree partially blocking half of the street.
So I went over and rang her doorbell and asked if she wanted me to pull the branch up onto the curb and out of the street.
She said “no, let the town do it.”
I didn’t want to get into it….it would have taken me all of 4 minutes to pull this obstruction out of the way.
Then today I saw the same thing a block away. Cars have to go one at a time in order to get down the street.
Why wouldn’t people want to pitch in a little…..?
I agree Ruby. Your neighbor sounds like an entitled selfish person.
Some people just don’t want to get involved in anything. They pay their property taxes, and they feel as though all work should be done by Village employees.
“They pay their property taxes, and they feel as though all work should be done by Village employees.”
Um, yeah. That’s kind of the way it works. Or, we can fire Village employees, save a boat load of money and just do stuff ourselves! Yeah, I like that plan!
Yeah ok
No preventative maintenance on the old trees. Add in the ugly elevated power lines and it’s a recipe for disaster every time the wind blows alongside rain.
Thank God PSE&G had Asplundh removing branches near power lines last month.
A prescient move to say the least….
