Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police were called in when crews for Congressman Gottheimer’s office were caught stealing and destroying GOP Candidate Frank Pallotta yard signs near the Ridgewood Park and Ride . Several calls were made to the Ridgewood Police . The vandals were confronted and driven off by police and representatives from the Pallotta campaign.
There is an ordinance in Ridgewood that prohibits the placement of political signs on public property. They were doing the right thing.
While leaving the signs for Gottheimer? Somehow your logic is lost on this one. FYI, no ordinance can restrict political speech, including signage on private property (City of Ladue, et al. v. Margaret P. Gilleo, 114 S.Ct. 2038).
Disgraceful. Maybe if he did a better job he wouldn’t feel threatened by the opponent.

The thing I don’t get is are people so mindless they will vote for a candidate because of the presence of (or lack thereof) a lawn sign? Let people put this up on their own property if they so desire but why have all these signs on public property?
