IMPORTANT MESSAGE!
We continue to receive reports that a person or multiple people are using what looks like the Police Department phone number to call residents with alarming messages. This is occurring around the state and it seems like they have been focusing on the Ridgewood Police number for a few days or longer.
If you suspect a fraudulent phone call, hang up and call “us” back on the publicly listed phone number of 201-652-3900. Do not call back a number that is given to you by the caller.
Any time a “police officer” is asking for money or personal information it will most likely be one of these calls. Law Enforcement generally does not collect money over the phone in lieu of arresting someone.
Hang up. Call the real phone number. Protect yourself.
