Ridgewood NJ, what an amazing day we had this past Saturday at the Graydon Pool parking lot! Officer Perez and the Parks & Rec team enjoyed every moment watching our young riders build confidence, learn bike safety tips, and most importantly, have fun! It was heartwarming to see the community come together to support our kids, making safety a priority while having a great time. A huge thank you to EZ Ride for helping us bring this program to life.
For those who may not know, EZ Ride is your go-to Transportation Management Association (TMA) if you live, work, or study in Bergen, Monmouth, or urban areas of Passaic, Essex, and Union Counties. Funded by NJDOT and NJDHTS, EZ Ride provides free safety programs that help improve pedestrian and road safety, reduce traffic congestion, and tackle air pollution. They partner with schools, businesses, government agencies, and other groups to address transportation challenges.
EZ Ride offers a wide range of services, including shuttles, transportation for seniors and people without cars, and their EZ Wheels 4 Work program, which provides refurbished bikes to help people get to work. Their efforts also focus on bike, pedestrian, and driver safety education through audits, safety talks, and infrastructure improvements.
EZ Ride’s Safe Routes to School (SRTS) team plays a vital role in assessing local neighborhoods for bike and pedestrian safety, making recommendations, and even teaching safe riding practices. They work with schools and municipalities to adopt Complete Streets and SRTS policies, promoting safer roads and encouraging more biking and walking in our communities.
