Ridgewood Police: Resident Home During Attempted Break-In

Ridgewood NJ, according to the Ridgewod Police a  resident caught a man trying to break into her Linwood Avenue home Thursday, police said. According to police sources a “suspicious person” knocked on the woman’s front door. She then saw the man go to the back of the house and try to force his way into the house through a locked door.The man saw the woman and quickly left. The Bergen County Sheriff’s K9 unit  was dispatched and personnel from the Crime Scene unit went to the house and assisted police with an investigation.

The Ridgewood Police Detective Bureau is currently investigating. The home is on Linwood Avenue near Henrietta Court. Anyone with information or who may have seen a suspicious person in the area is asked to call Detective Steven Shortway at 201-251-4536 or email him at sshortway@ridgewoodnj.net.

  1. There is a zero chance of the police actually stopping a robbery in progress. For that to happen, they would have to arrive quickly and potentially without backup. Both of those options seem extreme and more dangerous than directing traffic in town. Think about all the homeowners you know that have been robbed in the last few years. Has anyone been arrested? Ever? With two officers being let go in the last year for real reasons, it is time for change in management.

  2. not PC to describe the Perp so in case he’s scratching around our pads during sumner break..likely a drug addict or other rodent..

    they all have taken up the empty box routine..oh your not John Doe it must be another house up the block ..have a nice day..get a ring camera bell…they know the deal here
