WASHINGTON DC, on March 1st – 3rd 2023, New Jersey members of the Civil Air Patrol (U.S. Air Force Auxiliary) participated in the annual “National Legislative Day.” Event. This National event has Senior (adult) and Cadet (youth) members from across the United States converge on the halls of Congress to advocate for continued CAP Defense Appropriation funding.
Civil Air Patrol is a non-profit organization and auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, supporting communities at the local, state, and national level as part of the U.S. Air Force’s “Total Force.” Thirteen cadets from the New Jersey Wing (NJWG) were selected to travel to Washington, D.C. and present to all New Jersey House Representatives and Senators.
These amazing cadets presented their personal experiences and skills obtained in Civil Air Patrol Cadet Programs with the offices of Representatives Gottheimer, Kean, Kim, Menendez, Norcross, Pallone, Pascrell, Payne, Sherrill, Smith, Van Drew, Watson-Coleman, as well as the offices of Senators Booker and Menendez.
Additionally, we were also represented by Cadet A. Kittel who was one of four cadets invited to participate in the Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier!
In addition to representing New Jersey, Cadets also had the opportunity to explore Washington D.C. landmarks to include the Library of Congress, Supreme Court, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.
