Ridgewood NJ, Residents living in the area of N. Maple and Franklin Avenues in Ridgewood were shocked to learn that Village officials had authorized a roof replacement project to take place this past Sunday. By ordinance, use of power tools by contractors is not permitted on Sundays.
Workers were said to have begun ripping off the roof of a commercial building at 25 N. Maple Ave. beginning at 8 o’clock on Sunday morning. The building houses a Bank of America branch on the 1st floor and unknown offices on the 2nd floor. The entire building was roped off and no one could access any bank facilities, not even the ATMs.

Some disgruntled residents told us that they called the police to complain about construction noise on a Sunday, only to be told that the project was authorized by someone at Village Hall.
The Ridgewood Blog wonders why this work was allowed to take place on a Sunday? It would seem like the bank didn’t want to have their Monday through Saturday business operations disturbed. But it was OK to disturb residents who live near the bank? Were those who live within 200 feet of the bank even notified that this work was going to take place?

Money talks, nobody walks. Bank has political connections.
Has the engineers name written all over it
Like the Schedler and Habernickel soil, and the Kingsbridge, the Engineer probably did an “eye check” of the neighborhood the preceding Sunday at 8am.
Probably saw someone picking up bagels, and another person walking the dog, and figured it was good to go.
Its not owned by the bank Einstein
Yes it is douchebag.

This is what is wrong here on the blog. “Einstein” and “douchebag” specifically. When I read this nonsense, I head to another site. Moderation of content can be helpful, not censorship. Perhaps a reply email suggestion a rephrasing? Douchbag? Really?
8am on a Sunday? Wow! That’s chutzpah.
NOMA, with rents of $5k per month and up, is directly across the street. They all must have been pissed.
Residents were not informed
So someone’s authorization from Village hall supersedes local law. A sh.hole indeed.
I wonder who. I would say the engineer
You’re assuming the police told the original caller the truth. Because we’ve all been told the police here are far too busy to hand out easy tickets for traffic violations, etc., so that being the case, it’s also doubtful they’d spring into action to respond to a noise complaint at a bank.
This council has to go. None of them care they don’t live by it
The buck (should) stop with KK…
Kazmark has the power to overrule local ordinances? What the heck?
Kaz Mark thinks that he is king
Someone at Village Hall? Oh that’s rich. Let me guess. Keith Kazmark
Why not he doesn’t live here!
There’s a Gold Rush underway by home owners and Contractors upgrading medium to larger sized single homes between Ridgewood and Linwood avenues from 17 to and beyond Town center..
It was a very noisy project. Should never have been allowed on a Sunday.
They’re not the only ones. Walking past Citibank and the incoming coffee shop across the street from them for the past two weekends, they’ve been doing construction well into the evening at both locations.
