Ridgewood NJ, not really sure what to make of this , but we thought we would publish it.
Dear Village Council,Schedler 2.0?The opportunity for you to build a project that will be enjoyed and appreciated for generations to come. A project that in a hundred years, Ridgewood Residents will look back at you, the Village Council of 2025, and say, “This was their finest hour.”I see Schedler as an integral part of a Ridgewood Historic Park (“RHP”) linking Schedler to Valleau Cemetery, Paramus Church, and the School House Museum. The Park can be declared historic without registering it with SHPO and being burdened with its regulations. Interestingly enough, the iconic School House Museum is not registered with SHPO.The two sections of the Park would be connected by a footbridge across Rt 17, with the western end anchored at the Dunkin Donuts property which would be bought for that purpose, and to provide parking for the RHP.The berm would be torn down and replaced by an 18 ft high wall that would provide a real safety barrier and just as importantly a noise barrier for the neighborhood. The Schedler house would be torn down. If any person or group is so concerned about its historic significance, sell it to them for $1, and offer to pay them $50,000 to move it somewhere. The Schedler portion of the park would be designed for 2/3 active use, including the full-sized turf playing field, and 1/3 passive use, including paths, trees, and plantings. One passive use could be an arboretum of native trees that could become a learning center for the region.Acquire the adjoining one acre. With the freed one acre presently under the berm, the Schedler portion of the park will be 8 acres of usable spaceHire a nationally renowned park designer to put it all together.Reading this makes one wonder, how would you pay for this. The cost will be in the millions of dollars and a wild guess would be $10 million, maybe more, maybe less. Which leads me to my final point.Appoint a blue-ribbon commission that will be tasked with the fundraising. Valley Hospital’s new campus cost some $800 million of which about $200 million was raised from wealthy private individuals, mostly local. The wealthiest person in New Jersey, worth several billion, lives in Saddle River. I am not aware of any billionaires living in Ridgewood, but I can imagine several centi-millionaires. Yes, there is money and lots of it in our backyard. Will it be an easy task approaching them and raising the funds? No, it will not be, but with discipline, hard work and perseverance, it can be done.To succeed, you must:Think proactively and not reactively.Think big. America was not built by thinking small.Think of the critical path, and approach the various elements of the project in parallel and not in series.Take in stride second-guessers and why this and that cannot be done. Big projects are never easy.Dream big and creatively. You owe it to future generations.I am addressing this memo to the Village Council, Village Manager, and certain Village Directors, but I will be forwarding it to a myriad of people, including Village leaders, the press, naysayers, etc., etc. Some will like my ideas, many will think them crazy. This, with the hope of starting a discussion on how to seize the opportunity of a lifetime for a project that future generations will describe as your finest hour.I am attaching “The Seven Pillars of Ridgewood,” a love note to the Village I wrote a few years back. Thanks,RurikRurik Halaby

Project is dead. Far greater priorities that the village should be addressing.
Rurik!
Come back to Planet Earth!
Noooo. We don’t want him. Did he leave???? Hahaha
100%. And everyone knows Paulie’s Field of Schemes is dead but Rurik and a few crazy sports dads and soccer bunnies. Time to move on.
maybe he was abducted by aliens ?
Can you imagine a superior ET intelligence doing recon on Planet Earth and meeting Rurik?
clearly there is something in the water
And when are they going to remove the contaminated soil that place is one big money pit.
Zero activity on the site for weeks now.
No sign of Matrix, any town workers, nada.
The project is dead.
They should plant new trees to replace the two acres they butchered, go back to the 2018 plan everyone but Dirty Paulie agreed upon, and stop wasting our money, embarrassing themselves, and the town.
He’s a nut job.
This is why you don’t micro-dose in the winter time.
They waste money, don’t they?
our money….
‘cuz we are
RICH and STUPID
Rurik thinks we can raise the money from millionaires living in Saddle River.
That sounds like a plan.
Melodramatic twaddle.
How many millions do you think they spent already there and how many more millions they need to finish it,?
The YMCA consultant and PFAS Paulie think it can be done within the next 20-30 years.
The top officials think they’re smart, well guess what I’m 10 steps ahead of you. I know I’m a thorn in your ass because I know a lot of things don’t I?
He’s still alive?
Isn’t this the same guy who admitted to trespassing and went into the Schedler house, not once but multiple times, ignoring the “No Trespassing” signs because he said he didn’t see them. Seems like a loose cannon and a bit of a nut job.
I think what we really need is Rurik 2.0.
Where is Dom Nizza when we need him most?
wow … this guy is a major a$$ kisser, must be a pathetic little man
