Visitors to the Ridgewood High School (RHS) gym will see several advertisements from one advertiser: The Valley Hospital.
The hospital, which last year pledged to donate $500,000 over five years to the district, advertises on banners mounted on RHS gym scoreboards and other district locations.
Ridgewood parent Lorraine Reynolds, a staunch opponent of the hospital’s proposed expansion, questioned the district’s relationship with The Valley Hospital at Monday’s Board of Education (BOE) meeting, remarking that there is the “appearance of impropriety” with the advertisements.
“I’m sorry, it shouldn’t be allowed,” said Reynolds, who brought a poster to the meeting with photos of various Valley advertisements in the district.
Two other parents expressed their disappointment that the district did not voice a stance against the hospital’s plan at last week’s Planning Board hearing on the proposed expansion. They also said they were unhappy over the district’s financial relationship with Valley, noting that it almost appeared the district was in favor of the expansion.

Now playing the role of John “I voted for it before I voted against it” Kerry: Christina Krauss! I’m against the expansion but support the BOE’s statement. Ha!
“No More Brogan Should Be Our Slogan”
This is not an issue for the BOE to decide…..let them worry about education.
The fact that the BOE is not kicking and screaming against Valley’s expansion is a disgrace. And more than a little suspicious.
I’ve written it before and I’ll write it now again – Money ($500K) talks, nobody (the BOE) walks.
Somewhat humorous that these board members have spoken out against other projects in town — perhaps closer to their homes?
Under the thumb of the superintendent. It is truly sad.
