Ridgewood Schools Superintendents Report: Back to School Means Back to School

Ridgewood NJ, at Monday’s Ridgewood Board of Education Meeting in the  Superintendents Report , Superintendent Thomas Gorman highlighted the following points :

1)Schools will be open for full-time, in-person instruction with lunch, returning to pre-pandemic norms. Click here to view the presentation from the June 28 Board of Education meeting.

2)Back to School Night will be in person this year. Dates will be sent by the principals.

3)Principals will be also be sending welcome back videos to help students navigate the return to full-day instruction and review protocols for the school year.

4)A 2021-2022 School Year Parent Forum with all principals will be held at the end of August to discuss protocols and answer parent questions. The forum will be held the week of August 23 in the Board room at the Education Center and will be livestreamed from the website. Parents will receive an email with more details in the coming weeks.

5)All schools will be holding tours for students who would like to be reacquainted to the building prior to the start of the school year. Anyone interested in a tour should reach out to the principal.

6)The Village of Ridgewood Health Department will be hosting a vaccine drive for students. Two dates are currently being considered, and incentives will be offered to encourage participation. Students who are already vaccinated can present their vaccination card at the drive to receive the incentive. The tentative dates are August 19 and September 9. A flyer with more details is forthcoming.

 7)As of Monday, August 9, masks will be optional on school grounds and in school buildings, as per the Governor’s announcement regarding masks for the upcoming school year. While masks will be optional, they are highly encouraged for students. The mask policy is dependent upon local activity levels.

  2. To bad the superintend doesn’t have the power to make up his or hers own laws. The county, the state, the CDC can mandate a rule or law at any time.

  3. Right on. The state is going to change it up real soon. The ruling changing by the day .
