Ridgewood NJ, according to Mahmoud Hamza of the Village Shade Tree Commission , “The municipal 2020 fall shade tree planting was completed and another 200+ trees were added to our street tree inventory! We are now looking forward to the 2021 budget vote to continue the necessary funding for shade trees.”

“Residents can request a tree to be planted on the municipal strip in front of their property. If there is adequate planting space and it does not interfere with utilities, etc. the Shade Tree Department will determine the right tree for your location. To request a tree for planting in the Fall (typically sometime between October and December), email: dkat@ridgewoodnj.net.
If you are interested in having a specific tree planted, you can “Adopt-a-Tree”! Visit the Ridgewood Shade Tree Commission page on the Village website, rst@ridgewoodnj.net and scroll down to the link for the info.”

  1. That’s less than 1 tree a day.

  2. Ive seen lots planted and i look forward to them growing.
Are those bags to keep deer away? or for water?
Who will water these trees so they dont die. Do NOT expect the lazy residents to do ANYTHING

  3. These trees bust up the sidewalks as they grow and the Town forces homeowners to bear the costs of
Sidewalk demo or lift out as strangled roots at then cut out and the cement repored replaced at homeowners expense even tho it is not their property or their tree at curbside

    What a scam

  4. Now all they did to do is prune the old ones. There have been numerous limbs falling during windy days.
And stop planting under power lines..

  5. Tree staking – one of the absolute worst things to do. Leads to a weak tree structure and growth. If you want to discuss I’d be happy to chat about the interaction of the hormone ‘ethylene.’ Excessive mulch causes a variety of issues including circling roots, LACK of water, and inability to exchange oxygen. Planting location is key to a tree’s success. Congrats guys, you are 0 and 3.

  6. Indeed we are the circling ROOTS
    CENTER of the USA

THE Town bought out a closeout of
Jolly Green Giant trees 6 years back
And those plantings are massively trunked and completely over branched like a million busted umbrellas pointed to the sky
