Small classroom fire at Willard School is quickly contained:
July 25, 2018
Dear Ridgewood Public Schools community:
Today, Wednesday, July 25, a small electrical fire occurred in a classroom at Willard School. The Ridgewood Fire Department, Police and Office of Emergency Management responded and quickly extinguished the fire. Minor damage to the classroom and materials resulted. A professional service that specializes in fire and water damage has been engaged to properly clean the affected classroom.
Willard School will be open as usual on Thursday, July 26.
I would like to take this time to thank our first responders for their prompt response to today’s incident and great work always.
Sincerely,
Daniel Fishbein, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
And as a result of this small fire, the building will be completely demolished and replaced by a new structure at a soon to be announced location.
Noooooooo! Never fear. The supt and BOE are careful with tax payer’s money. They will only do what is absolutely necessary and in the best interests of the students in the school.
They electrical system in every Ridgewood school will be replaced and modernized.
The new elementary school will be located at 915 Glenview Road, the former site of the now shuttered Upper Ridgewood Tennis Club. The state of the art facility will feature a 1200 seat auditorium/performing arts center.
Your 100% right on that post.
Wow.
A straight forward, concise letter from Fishbein with no superfluous, self-serving, social engineering nonsense.
.
Is he on vacation and this letter written by his secretary or intern?
.
Think about fellow bloggers. The first post is unrealistic .
The second post, mine, is a scary and most probable reality. The BOE would change perfectly good well-functioning electrical systems in ALL the schools based on a small electrical fire in one school. The cost would total several million.. And YOU will have your taxes unnecessarily changed.
I disagree with 7:39 am. Smoke from the fire tainted the building’s entire first floor. Parents concerned about possible carcinogens will demand the first floor be gutted and replaced. The cost will be prohibitive warranting instead a new school be constructed. Just you wait and see.
They just added a 2 story addition. It will remain where it is and be cleaned up in time for school
I just hope any refresh will also include safe spaces where students, teachers & admins can go when trigger words are heard.
