Ridgewood NJ, lost in all the debate over school board elections was that the Village Council has moved ahead with plans to develop the Schedler Park property ( 18-236 Approve Field Design for Schedler Park ).
The Village council approved a plan Wednesday night to construct a multi-use athletic field, playground, a walking trail, bathrooms, and 44 more parking spaces to the tract of land on West Saddle River Road just off of Route 17.
The athletic field will be the slimed down version , a 75 by 50 that could be used for soccer, lacrosse, and kickball games .

Wow. Great work. I wish this had all happened before the prior election. Since the council is doing everything their opponents wanted,we would have saved a lot of ugliness.
Ramon is feeling his oats…
So where does the RBSA go now…?
SPEND,SPEND, SPEND.
The rbsa has gotten by without a 90 foot field for many years. so whatever they were doing in the past they can continue to do now. Maybe their are just less kids playing baseball.
The current council is a BIG disappointment, unfortunately I voted for them because the alternative was worse Worse and worser.
Yep they are doing everything they fought against and everything they promised they are not doing like paving. Well you get what you wanted.
Lets build a GINORMOUS GARAGE over there.
It will serve as much use to the CBD as the one being built in the Hudson lot…. and will probably have less crime if built at Schedler
How about spending money on repaving reconstructing some of the parking lots in the CBD. Cottage Street lot, one large crate parking lot, are in desperate need of a reconstructed state-of-the-art parking lot. Thank you
It seems as if baseball is being starved through willful neglect. Boys who have stuck with the sport over time, to the point where they have been playing on the MLB-sized field since the fall of seventh grade, are the ones who bear the brunt of this. It’s too bad, really. Could be shrinking local participation through forced attrition rather than lack of interest.
There are less kids playing at the high school level. Vets Field is their home field and that is a 90 foot diamond. Lower Hawes has always been a possibility for another 90 foot diamond. Schedler and the Garage are the results of compromise. Many wanted the house and trees protected from over development and could live with a garage that fit the footprint thereby protecting on street parking and limiting the impact on the businesses in that area. Both are compromises long in the making. I can live with that
Very good 9:16 because that is exactly what transpired. In the real world this is what educated professionals do everyday. Working together to move us all forward requires compromise. Every comment above except yours is the standard “my way or the highway”. As soon 90 % of Ridgewood residents figure out that it’s not all about them the sooner we can continue making progress towards a better future.
7:43 Town road surfaces are a complete disgrace…no plan to deal with that since there are no winners outside of the average joe or Jane who’s cars are being damaged mile by mile in VOR.Hot patch approach has been a failure to manage our critical town roads . No one cares at town government level ..it’s all about the developers and their contribution to a select set of people and businesses here .We are the Taxed and the forgotten..there are many moving out of this broken town..
What about all the curbing being done on roads few travel on. What a waste of money & time Hillcrest got sidewalks but it looked like they were done wrong because the next week back again ripped a lot up & redone $$$$ another half ass job they should of spent that money on repaying all of Hillcrest. Ramon doesn’t care who got him elected because he flipped his story too so sad you think you pick candidates who share your views but it’s not the way it works.
Ha Hillcrest had the aprons on several driveways done. then re-done and then a few more had to be done again. What a joke $$$. Who orchestrated that plan?
