Ridgewood YMCA Camp Counselor Charged With Sexual Assault of 3 Pre-teens

Ridgewood NJ, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson reported today that an investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Victims Unit has led to the arrest of one individual on August 17, 2022. Ridgewood YMCA summer camp counselor Joshua F. Daranijo, 24, of Levittown, PA, was charged with three counts of second-degree sexual assault by contact and three counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

An investigation revealed that Mr. Daranijo had sexual contact with three victims under the age of 13 while employed as a camp counselor at Camp Bernie in Lebanon Township. Mr. Daranijo is being held in the Warren County Jail pending his first court appearance.

Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law
