SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic – A Dominican Republic judge ruled Tuesday that he needs to hear from a U.S. senator and one of his campaign contributors before deciding whether to grant a court order sought by a woman who says she was paid to falsely claim she had sex with the men.

The woman, 23-year-old Nexis de los Santos, asked the court to block any possible arrest for making statements she now says are false: accusing the senator and several associates of using prostitutes in the Dominican Republic.

Judge Ismael Ramirez, at a hearing in the town of La Romana, determined he did not have enough information and ordered the testimony of U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) and Salomon Melgen, a Florida eye doctor and major campaign contributor.

  1. The whole story is that he does not need to go to the DR to testify. The prostitute is worried about being charged with making a false allegation. She said that she was paid to read a script about Menendex and she has never met him. The DR case is about her, not him.

  2. Wrong prostitute.

    1. Those making allegations need to stop hiding. How can someone defend himself against unknown accusers? In this country we have a right to face our accusers.

If the new prostitute is afraid then maybe the individuals who presented the story to the internet could explain themselves. What brought the innamed lawyer to the DR to investigate the story? Who is he/she working for? Time to shine a light.

  3. Even if the DR were willing to pay for his trip down there and reimburse the American people for his time, the Senator should be in Washington doing his job.

    1. The less time this guy spends “doing his job” the better off the country will be.

  4. #3 Next you will want to know who we voted for. He doesn’t have to defend himself to me. I will make my choice at the ballot box.

  5. Who is the secret group trying to smear Menendez?
