Englewood NJ, The New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced lane closures and detours on Route 4 in Englewood this weekend as part of a $20 million bridge project.

According to the DOT, the Jones Road Bridge and the exit ramps connecting Route 4 and Jones Road will be closed and detoured from 2 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday. Additionally, temporary traffic stoppages lasting 15 minutes are scheduled in both directions between 11:59 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday.

On Friday, the right eastbound lane at the Jones Road overpass will be closed from noon to 5 p.m. to facilitate the delivery of steel beams for the project. Subsequently, the right and center eastbound lanes, as well as the right westbound lane, will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday to 5:30 a.m. Saturday for beam installation.

The DOT has stated that the road will reopen earlier if construction is completed ahead of schedule. Motorists are advised to exercise caution, anticipate delays, or consider using alternative routes during this time.

The ongoing work forms part of a $20.7 million federally funded initiative aimed at replacing the Jones Road Bridge with a new structure approximately 3 feet higher, addressing clearance issues underneath the bridge. Completion of the project is projected for summer 2025, as per the DOT’s estimates.
