Rabbi Aryeh Spero, Influential Theologian ,Leading Political Conservative, and Outspoken Advocate for Religious Liberty has Died After a Long Illness

Hawthorne, NY, Beth Gilinsky Spero is heartbroken to inform you of the passing of her beloved husband, Rabbi Aryeh Spero, on June 26, 2023 after a long illness he confronted with courage and enormous dignity, as was the way he did everything in his life.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Rabbi Spero is survived by his three sons, Benjamin (Jenna) Spero, Alexander Spero, and Samuel Spero, as well as his sister, Sarah Spero Fordonski (Shmuel Mordecai) of Detroit and brother, Shmuel Avigdor Spero of Toronto, and his brother-in-law Joshua Gilinsky of New York City, and many cousins in America and Israel. Rabbi Spero was the cherished uncle of Chaya Gittel (Jonathan) Polirer, Tzvi Shlomo (Bashi) Fordonski, Avrohom Dov (Elisheva) Fordonski, Yosef Boruch (Chavi) Fordonski, Akiva Shalom (Miriam) Fordonski, Naomi (Eli) Devor, Dovi (Pnina) Spero, Yitzi Spero, Mordechai Meyer Spero, and Yisroel Zev Spero.

Rabbi Spero was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Florence Spero of Cleveland. A deeply religious man, Rabbi Spero was president of Quality Kosher Supervision.    Spokesman for the Conference of Jewish Affairs and for Caucus For America, he was admired and cherished across America by people of all backgrounds, not only for his kindness and character, but also for his stirring speeches, insightful commentary, and moving, inspirational prayers.  He cherished America and Israel, revered America’s Founding Fathers and his faith, and deeply loved his family.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 10am at Congregation Sons of Israel in Allentown, PA.  The graveside burial will be in Hawthorne, New York.

Shiva will be observed, details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be send to Conference of Jewish Affairs, 7918 Main Street, Suite 656, Fogelsville, PA 18051 to continue Rabbi Spero’s lifelong mission of promoting America’s unique Judeo-Christian ethos and civilization.

Rabbi Spero was the first rabbi to publicly endorse the candidacy of Ronald Reagan for President.  Rabbi Spero is founder and president of Quality Kosher Supervision. He is married to Beth Gilinsky Spero and has three sons.
