Saddle River NJ, the Childhood Cancer Society’s annual benefit dinner, hosted by Saddle River Mayor Albert Kurpis and his wife Judy, raised a remarkable $178,596 to support families impacted by pediatric cancer. Held on October 24 at Ridgewood Country Club, the event also celebrated the launch of the Adventure Ted Challenge, a fundraising initiative to boost the charity’s Wish Grant Budget and provide uplifting adventures for children and their families.
One of the evening’s highlights was the announcement of this year’s “Enchanted Theme Park Experience” grant, awarded to six-year-old Anjali Minocha from Mountainside. Anjali, who is currently in remission from neuroblastoma and undergoing treatment at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, will soon enjoy a magical, all-expenses-paid week at Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld, with accommodations at Give Kids the World Village.
Expressing his gratitude, Mayor Kurpis, who also serves on the board of directors for the Childhood Cancer Society, shared, “Judy and I feel deeply honored to stand alongside the Childhood Cancer Society, and we’re profoundly grateful to everyone who joined us in this effort.”
Tommy Head, the founder and CEO of the Childhood Cancer Society, acknowledged the Kurpis family’s commitment, saying, “We are deeply grateful to Mayor Al and Judy Kurpis for uniting our community around such an important cause.”
