Ridgewood NJ, seven (7) injuries were reported in connection with a Monday afternoon, 09/19, crash involving a Ridgewood Public School bus and two (2) passenger vehicles at the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and North Van Dien Avenue, Ridgewood. Five (5) crash victims were transported to local hospitals by multiple ambulances according to Ridgewood Emergency Services officials. All three (3) vehicles were heavily damaged and towed from the scene. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel rushed to aid the victims. Additional EMS support was provided by EMS units from The Valley Hospital.
ABC news is reporting the school bus ran a red light around 4 p.m., when a school bus, traveling north on South Van Dien approaching East Ridgewood Avenue, apparently went through a red light and was hit by a Mazda CX-9 and a Land Rover.
Police say the bus carried a driver, two adult passengers and one 11-year-old child. All four people were taken to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Land Rover and his 15-year-old daughter were also taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Mazda refused medical attention at the scene. The incident is still under investigation.
Not a RPS school bus but a private bus that is contracted through a cooperative agreement. RPS does not vet the drivers or the safety of the buses used to transport our students on a daily basis to and from school.
And that’s the problem. The village should of never got ride of the school buses. The b o e lost all of the power by doing so. It’s no savings.
Josh must be setting up the podium. He’s a problem solver.
The village BOE should bring back their own school buses. When they outsourced the busing, and the janitors that’s when the problems occurred. Course cutting cause a tremendous amount of problems with those two entities. And then he took that money and hired more people up top.
