Ridgewood NJ, New Jersey’s ambitious transition to an all-electric bus fleet just hit a massive speed bump. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a critical recall on September 20, 2025, for several models of electric buses manufactured by New Flyer of America, one of which is currently being used in NJ Transit’s electric bus pilot program.

The root of the problem? A dangerous fire risk emanating from the high-voltage battery system.

MAHWAH, NJ – A popular Bergen County dining spot, Novino Ristorante, has been forced to close indefinitely after a significant fire erupted at the establishment in the early hours of Thursday morning, October 2nd.

The Mahwah Fire Department Company 2 responded to Novino Ristorante on Ramapo Valley Road around 4:15 a.m., finding a fire active in the back of the building. Due to the seriousness of the situation, fire companies from across the township were dispatched, alongside a large contingent of mutual aid departments from both New Jersey and New York.
