Bergen Man Sentenced To Six Years In Prison For Using Personal Information Stolen From U.S. Service Members To File Phony Tax Returns

Fort Lee NJ,  A Fort Lee, man was sentenced today to 72 months in prison for generating phony tax refunds using personal identifying information stolen from current and former members of the U.S. army, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

Shope Oluwo, 35, previously pleaded guilty before Chief U.S. District Judge Freda L. Wolfson to an indictment charging him with one count each of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, access device fraud, and aggravated identity theft. Chief Judge Wolfson imposed the sentence today in Trenton federal court.

Trenton NJ, Senator Michael Testa called the $3 billion tax increase plan promoted this week by a coalition of progressive organizations “a recipe for disaster.”

Sen. Michael Testa derided a plan to increase taxes by $3 billion, floated this week by liberal organizations. ‘Taxes are the problem, not the solution,’ he said.

America’s Most Congested Road is in Bergen County !

Fort Lee NJ, The American Transportation Research Institute released its annual list highlighting the most congested bottlenecks for trucks in America.

The 2020 Top Truck Bottleneck List assesses the level of truck-involved congestion at 300 locations on the national highway system.  The analysis, based on truck GPS data from over 1 million heavy duty trucks uses several customized software applications and analysis methods, along with terabytes of data from trucking operations to produce a congestion impact ranking for each location.  ATRI’s truck GPS data is also used to support the U.S. DOT’s Freight Mobility Initiative.  The bottleneck locations detailed in this latest ATRI list represent the top 100 congested locations, although ATRI continuously monitors more than 300 freight-critical locations.

The advocacy starts at the top, with many major companies and corporations needing to step up and fight global warming and constant climate change.  But the sole responsibility is not on just them, but everyone. We can all do our part, and we will have to as the days run dangerously close to the point of no return. In the modern day, it is easy to forget to do our part, or we think we are doing enough so we forget to keep a mindful account of our actions and what can be done better or improved.

Ridgewood NJ,  The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) has given NJ TRANSIT approval to begin Revenue Service Demonstration (RSD) of its Positive Train Control (PTC) system, moving NJ TRANSIT one-step closer to meeting the federally mandated deadline of PTC certification by December 31, 2020.

Bergen County Man Sentenced to 30 Months in Prison for Raiding Employee Pension Plan

Teaneck NJ,  A Bergen County man who embezzled funds from his company’s employee benefit plan over an eight-year period was sentenced today to 30 months in prison, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

Howard Preschel, 63, of Teaneck, previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Susan D. Wigenton in Newark federal court to one count of an indictment charging him with embezzling funds from the CMG Vending Inc. Pension Trust Fund.
